As I made my way to the leaky cauldron I couldn't focus, I should of said something then and there, stopped them even, instead all I did was stay quiet. My mind was racing, picturing what I had just seen over and over.
I had walked into the potions classroom, just as I intended to do in order to find Vess. She had locked herself in the potion storeroom by accident on numerous occasions previously so I assumed that's where she was again.
I had approached the door and reached my hand to open it, although I ended up pulling it back as I heard an all to familiar male voice.
"All I'm saying is it's our destiny we're supposed to, keep the pure blood line going, so on so on" Mattheo had said in a hushed voice
"You don't have to do everything they say, what's the worst they can do?" Vesper had asked back in an aggressive manner, she had seemed almost agitated.
I didn't know then and I still didn't know now who exactly they were talking about. The conversation between Vesper and Mattheo was escalating and they were getting slightly louder. Instead of the quiet conversation I heard earlier, it was now an argument, and then everything went quiet.
Being friends with Mattheo I knew how angry he got over small things, although I didn't know what it was they were arguing about, I thought in that moment that I should see if Vess was alright. Knowing now, that was a mistake.
"Vess are you alr...." I had asked pulling open the door, i didn't get to finish my sentence before i saw the two of them kissing, no making out.
I stood motionless in the doorway my eyes wide open, a series of questions popping into my, the most obvious one... Why?
Vesper pulled away from Mattheo as she heard me, puffing silently she went to say something, although I had already seen enough. In one swift motion I had turned away and rushed out of the room.
"Selina Wait" I had heard Mattheo say, but I didn't care, I still don't.
I couldn't begin to comprehend why she had done something like that. I didn't say anything to Harry, in the moment and I don't know why, I guess some part of me wanted to protect Vesper even after the unfaithful thing she had done, I wonder how long this had been going on for.
The leaky cauldron wasn't too far away, in comparison to the school so I made my way there, exactly on time for when I had scheduled to meet Freddie.
I opened the door hearing the faint chimes of bells, notifying the staff that someone had walked in. I was greeted by a server asking if I wanted a table, I scanned the room until I saw Fred, he waved.
"Um I've already got one thanks" I said walking past the sever and making my way to the table Fred was sitting at.
He stood up and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before pulling me into a tight hug, it hadn't been that long since we had seen each other although I was grateful for the hug.
I pulled away first and sat down.
"Have you ordered?" I asked surprisingly keeping my voice steady enough to hide that anything was wrong.
"Just two butterbeers I assumed you wouldn't be too far away" he replied smiling
"You know me too well" I laughed. For a brief moment I felt at ease, my mind paused thinking solely on Fred. I reached across the table and took his hand in mine.
"How's the shop going?" I asked making small conversation as we waited for our drinks the arrive.
Fred was happy enough to answer that question, I made sure to smile listening to what he said and laughing at the jokes he made.
