The argument we had, had only moments before was very clearly not the first. We had been getting into tedious arguments like that constantly, the locket was draining all of our spirits.
" That was unnecessary. " Hermione informed us all, as she retook her spot on the floor.
" No shit sherlock. " Ron hissed, she shot him a glare, the tension that had been radiating around the group was now very much prominent in the air. Harry still had the necklace around his neck, and was still in his very angry mood.
Ron walked up to him, snatching the locket carefully off his neck. Harry eyed Ron and then the locket, he smiled briefly before staring back our at the trees that surrounded our small camp.
Ron hooked the locket around his own neck, most likely hearing the whispers and remarks it constantly made in his own mind now. He shrugged it off. I walked over to Fred.
" I think you should go check on Selina. " I said, he nodded, sprinting off after her. Of course I would of gone and checked, however an awkward silence had filled in our friendship. I believe she suspected bad things of me and my family, but I couldn't blame her.
I heard light hisses coming from the locket, now wrapped around Ron's neck.
" How on earth are we supposed to break it? " I asked, Hermione made an exaggerated expression of exasperation as she slumped forward on the ground. She began reading as she usually did as the arguments ended, she continued to read as she walked inside.
Leaves crunched and twigs snapped as Fred and Selina made their way over, I smiled sympathetically at the two of them but got nothing in return.
I found myself in these times, missing my brother. Of course I wouldn't dare admit that to anyone here, they all hated him with a passion but he usually knew what to do when friendships needed mending.
I sat down by the tent, holding my head in my hands for a short moment. The silence that had descended across our group was awkward yes, but still comforting, a reminder of when things were simpler.
I heard a twig snap followed by a thud as someone sat down beside me, I looked over to see Harry smiling at me. I smiled back, weakly.
" Harry - what are we doing? " I asked him, he eyed me for a short moment before taking a deep breath and frowning, he leant against the tent as he shook his head.
" I have no clue, I thought this would be simpler and it's just not. We cant even destroy the one horcrux we have, who's to say we will end up finding the others? I keep trying to gently open my mind up to him, hoping perhaps he will reveal something to me but it never works. " He descended onto his short-lived rant, I pet his shoulder, resting my head gently on it.
" It'll work out. " I answered simply, he smiled briefly at me, lacing his own hand in mine as we raised of the ground, walking inside the tent to meet the others. They were all hunched over the large table, I took a seat next to Ron and Harry sat next to Fred.
" Okay, let's be rational now. What are we going to do? " Hermione asked, tracing her fingers over the page in which she was reading. In response she received a bunch of shrugs and murmurs of confusion.
" Harry? " She asked, looking up from the page in her book. He observed the group who stared at him expectingly. He shrugged, an embarrassed frown clear on his face.
" Splendid. " Ron answered, getting ready to raise off the table. I latched my hand onto his wrist and he eyed me angrily, before recomposing and sitting down.
" Okay. Well, " Harry begun, shooting a glance at Ron.
" I was thinking that we need to start moving again- " He continued but Hermione held up a hand, interrupting the train of thought he was on." Ron can't apparate. " She reminded him, he nodded.
" I know, why don't we begin on foot? " He asked, she thought about this, looking at Ron's slightly healed arm.
" Well it's not his leg, so I don't see why not. " She responded, shutting the book she had been reading.
" Also - I've been reading- " Hermione said, everyone shot her a glance of knowingness. She laughed lightly, before shaking her head.
" No - that's not what I was imploring on. " She answered our glances, I couldn't help but smile slightly myself. Harry held his hand out, inquiring she continue in further.
" How did you destroy the horcrux last time? " She asked Harry, he looked up at the roof, carefully considering this.
" A basilisk fang. " He replied, everyone's excited expressions slowly faltered as we all realised how impossible it'd be to find again.
" Now this is where my reading comes into play, the sword that Vesper received is made of a fine metal that absorbs everything it touches, right? " She said, Harrys eyes widened but I was still very confused with where this was going.
" And I stabbed the basilisk, near the mouth. " Harry continued for Hermione and they both shared delighted expressions.
" So that'd mean it absorbed some of the basilisk venom. " She finished, smiling brightly now. It made a little bit of sense now, they both stared at each-other, the happiest I had seen them in the past two months.
" Well isn't that just jolly and grand! " Ron announced, staring at the both of them, ice clear in his words and eyes. I eyed him, what had gotten into him? I then remembered the locket hooked around his neck.
" Ron, take the locket off. " I said lightly, he shot a glare my way, standing up.
" Why don't we all just leave Hermione and Harry to the quest guys? since they're both so smart and seemingly only need to rely on each-other! " He yelled, his eyebrows furrowing in misery and anger. Hermione held her hands up, confused at this turn of action.
" Ron? " She asked, he eyed her, venom lacing his own glare. I went to go get the sword I had been given, hoping to destroy the locket at put him out of his bad mood. However, the sword wasn't in the place I had last put it. I made a loud clicking noise of dismay and went to go inform everyone, only to see they were in a deep argument again.
" Ron! We were just working things out, we weren't not including you. " Harry said, Ron turned his dark gaze over to him.
Maybe I wouldn't alert everyone of the bad news now.
