It all started that one summer...
Chapter 2 - How can someone surprise me like that?
Isco
I stood in front of my bedroom door staring at the handle. I had my hand over the handle and was afraid of going in. I couldn't find the strength in me to open the door because I didn't want to face my mom yet. I was still thinking about the girl I just met. I was remembering her long light brown hair in a braid, her sunglasses and the bright orange bikini she was wearing. I did move so she would bump into me on purpose. For some reason I can't understand I needed to talk to her. It was kind of silly of me, but it went perfectly. 'She probably has a boyfriend' I thought as I eventually opened the door to my room.
The room was enormous. The first thing that caught my eye was a couch that probably pulled out into the bed my brother will be sleeping in. There was a big television, a kitchen, and three doors. Two of them were rooms and the third one the bathroom I was going to share with my brother. My mom was in the balcony looking at the ocean and finishing off a cigarette. I couldn't help myself from wondering why the hell I even accepted to come early with my mother on this trip. I still believe our relationship will never be like it used to.
Our relationship had been a bit rocky recently, and I really understood what this whole situation meant to her. I stood next to her and looked down at the pool that was now 23 floors down. I gazed over at my mother who was watching at me. She was presumably having one of those mom moments when they realize how much their son has grown, and they can't believe it. I did turn 22 earlier this year, and she became a ball of emotions for many reasons.
"Who was that girl you were talking to?" She asked crushing the silence between us. I really wasn't interested in answering her question because she is always getting involved in my love life. It was my love life. She has no business butting in. Even more when she is doing it to report back to her.
"Just a girl," I responded though it wasn't true. She appeared to be more than just a girl. I would love to be down there right now talking to her than my mom. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom, but I have 3 weeks with her, and just a few hours to myself wouldn't be bad.
"Oh, okay." I was glad that she picked up on my attitude. She noticed that I had my guard up then told me where we were going to eat. She leads the way to the elevator, and I follow closely behind her. The entire ride was filled with silence. I wasn't in the mood of talking to her anymore. At least for today. Instead of taking this mother-son time and making a bond with me, she had to ask about some girl I just met.
I kind of wanted some time for myself. I've had a rather long season. I just met an unusual girl that I really craved to talk to. I was distracted even through our meal. I kept imagining the girl in my head. I wondered where was she from, what kind of music did she like, and, most importantly, if she had a boyfriend. My mom was now attempting to fix things with me. You could say I was still a bit annoyed with her.
When I wasn't imagining Katie, I was recalling the season. We nearly won this season. We came in second place just a few points ahead of Real Madrid. It was a big shocker. I was happy with the team and the management. It had been an amazing season because we had two amazing matches against Barcelona and we beat Real Madrid twice. We made it to the Semi-Finals in the King's Cup. Since we are still trying our best to work things out to play in the Champions League, we are hoping this year we can actually compete.
"You want to go into town with me?" My mom said as she paid the bill.
"No, I am a bit tired and want to head back." I lied. I just wanted to head back to the hotel to take in the sun and maybe see Katie. For reasons I can not explain, I am drawn to this girl. "You can go and take a nap."
