Chapter 8 - Why am I afraid of losing her?

Isco

It was only 10 when i found some time for myself. I had been annoyed with my brother because he left me alone with our cousins just to spend time with Emma, Jess and Katie. I love my brother, but sometimes he can be a complete jerk. I also love my family a lot and every year I can’t wait to see them. I do understand why my mom gets hesitant when I get offers from other clubs but it’s my choice really. I am a grown man and now I really have to think about my future as a football player and in my personal life too.

I make my way to Katie’s room to surprise her. I did hope she was in her room but Emma told me she was. She said Katie was talking to her sister. I kept thinking about what Katie said this morning. I really hoped she meant it as a joke. I knocked on her door and started to feel nervous.

“Coming,” I heard Katie say. She said goodbye to her sister and walked towards the door. She opened the door and froze when she realized it was me. She jumped me and held me tightly.

“Someone is excited to see me.” I said and she just giggled. She kept her arms around me and held me tight. She kissed my cheek and just kept giggling.

“Someone is super amazing with his cousins.” She said holding me tightly. “Come in, tell me all about your day.” She said and I walked inside the room carrying her. She sat down next to me on the couch and pushed her computer away.

“Well, I spent the entire day with my cousins.” I said with a smile. She already knew and that was pretty much my day today. I was looking at Katie’s face. She looked really beautiful right now. Her hair was all messed up and she was wearing sweats and the jacket I lent her on our date. I didn’t notice I was touching her cheek until her hand was on mine. “You know, the twins you saw...” I started to say with a chuckle wanting to tell all about them.

“They are adorable!” She said with a huge smile.

“Maybe, you can meet them tomorrow.” I said and I could see excitement build up in her eyes.

“That would be lovely,” She said and I noticed she was caressing my hand. “I hope it doesn’t get you in trouble.” She was looking at our hands when she said that. I lifted up her chin, so I could look in her eyes. Katie looked worried. It did really worry her that I might get in trouble because of her. I knew she must’ve heard my conversations with my mother last night. She knew that my mother had a problem with her.

“If it does bring me any trouble it’s my problem and you don’t have to think about it.” I said caressing her cheek. Now I saw that she wasn’t stressing as much about it. “My aunt is pretty cool.” She smiled and now she was all excited. I loved seeing her all excited about things like this.

“Want to hear about my day?” She asked and all I could do was nod. “Well, I went into town and bought some things for my family. I had lunch and then came back to the hotel and was by the pool and then hung out with Emms, Jess and Antonio.” She didn’t look that excited anymore.

“That sounded fun.” I said trying to cheer her up. “So you didn’t use your camera today?” I asked and I was happy to see her get excited again.

“Actually, I did.” She said and pulled out her computer. “Look.” She said now that she had her computer in my lap. She showed me the pictures she took today. She was happy to show them to me. I was starting to love the face she has when she talks about her photography. She was telling me all this technical stuff about photography that I do not understand. She was telling me all about each photo and there was one that caught my attention.
