Chapter 38 - You are the worst person ever.

Isco

It was February 14th and I wanted to surprise Katie. I hated the fact that I got injured the weekend before, and I couldn’t play. Since I was injured I had days off, but the medical staff warned me that I had to be careful, and Pellegrini told me to be back on Monday. I was glad the injury wasn’t that serious and that I could join the team in 2 to 3 weeks. I talked to Katie earlier today before we hung up I had told her that I couldn’t make it. I really wanted to surprise her. She told me she was going to spend the night in her room watching movies since Emma was going out with Jordi and Alma with Sergi.

The plane finally arrived and my nerves started getting the best of me. I fixed the scarf around my neck as I got a cab and asked the man to take me to the nearest flower shop. I told the man to wait for me as I went inside and bought a red rose for Katie. I got back inside and told him the way towards Katie’s apartment with Emma and Alma. I paid the nice man and started making my way to the door. I clicked on the button next to their apartment number and waited for her to answer.

“Who is it?” I heard Katie say extremely confused. It was obvious she wasn’t expecting someone.

“your favorite person,” I said and I heard the buzzer telling me the door was open. I was making my way up the steps carefully. Once I was in the second floor, I saw her running down the steps.

“Isco!” She screamed pulling me into a hug. I held her tight and lifted her up from the ground spinning her around like in the movies. She was happy to see me, and lifting her was putting a lot of weight on my right knee, but it was for her. I put her down and give her the simple red rose. “this is for me?” She said grabbing the rose and bringing it up to her nose to smell it. “I love it.” She said smiling and then pulled me into a kiss.

“Could we go inside?” I said holding her hand not wanting to let her know why I wanted to go inside.  “My knee is bothering me a little bit.”

“Sure,” Katie said and we started walking towards her apartment. We reached her door and she stopped and turned to look at me. “I thought you weren’t coming,” she said and looked away. “I was so sad and a bit mad, because it was our first Valentine together and I wanted to spend it with you. Look at how I am dressed.” She said looking down at her outfit. She looked great, in a pair of baggy sweatpants and a sweater. “Actually, I don’t even like Valentine’s day because I think you should show you love to the person you love every single day.” She looked up at me and I leaned in to kiss her. “Yeah, thank you.” She said smiling and opening the door.

“I wanted to surprise you.” I said walking over to her couch. I sat down and patted on the spot next to me so she could sit. “You cried,” I said touching her cheek that had the hint that tears had been shed.

“just a little bit, like I said… I was mad.” She said looking down and I felt my heart sink. I felt bad for hurting her. “but you are here now.” She said looking up at me and kissing me. “I should’ve known you would’ve done something like this, you are the worst person ever.” She said giggling and resting her head on my shoulder. I looked at the table and saw the amount of DVD’s she had and the box of tissues.

“You had quite a night planned out.” I said leaning forward and looking at the DVDs.

“I did,” She said with a giggle, “I pulled out all of the best movies, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Pretty in Pink; 16 Candle, Little Manhattan, and Definitely, Maybe.” I pulled up ‘The Notebook’ and held it in my hands.
