I have dyslexia.
My dad knows I'm failing classes but doesn't know I'm dyslexic.
I'm embarrassed about my grades and insecure about my dyslexia.
I came home from school today and sat at the table trying to read my work. "The equation.. is.." I tried to read it. I was angry with myself at that point.
I was a Stark. I was supposed to be smart.
I tried as hard as I could.
Bruce walked in and saw me struggling. "Y/n? You have dyslexia?" He asked confused as to why I didn't tell him.
I looked up at him with teary eyes. "Yeah.." I said in a whisper.
"Oh Y/n.. it's nothing to be ashamed of." He smiled and sat beside me.
"Can you read it to me?" I asked.
"Sure kiddo." He smiled.
He reads it to me and then explains how to answer it. I listen and try hard to practice reading the pages.
"The.. equation.. can.. sorry, Is.." I tried to read.
"Don't be sorry. It's okay. Try again." Bruce smiled. My dad walked in. I didn't look at him.
"The.. equation.. is.. a.. pie-" you tried to sound it out and read it right.
Your dad was looking at you in shock. "It's okay Y/n.." Bruce said rubbing my back. "It's Piece." He said. I nodded and continued to try and read.
I continued reading until I was all done my homework.
After I finished I walked into the living room.
I saw my dad sitting on the couch. I sat across from him and smiled.
"Hey dad.." I said. He smiled at me, "Hey kiddo. Why didn't you tell me?" He asked after a moment of silence.
"I was scared you would be mad that I'm not smart." I said looking at my feet.
"Hey.. your the smartest kid I've ever met. Don't say that. I love you." He hugged me. I smiled and hugged back.
"I love you too."
