Kaoru's POV

I rolled over in bed, facing a sleeping Kojiro. I hadn't been able to sleep much last night because I was too busy thinking. I brushed his hair from his face and stared lovingly. "You're so beautiful" I muttered, tracing my fingers across his cheek. "Stop that, it tickles" He whined, swatting my hand away. I giggled and kissed his forehead, "Good morning" he groaned and rolled over. "Don't be like that" I said, sitting up. I huffed and went to get up, but he rolled over and wrapped his arms around my waist, "Don't go" He whined. I sighed and laid back down, knowing it was too early for me to get up anyways. "What time is it?" Kojiro mumbled, covering his eyes when I picked up my phone. "A few minutes past 5" "Kaoru, go back to bed" He said, laying his head on my chest. "I can't sleep," I whispered, playing with his hair. "What's buggin you then?" He said, trying to open his eyes. "I think Miya's lonely," I said, sighing. "What?" "He's always alone in his room. And I know he's gone through a lot lately, but I think he needs something to keep him company." "Like a pet?" "Yeah" I sighed again, "Let's take him to get one then" Kojiro said, rubbing my chest. "You think that's a good idea?" "Mhm" I smiled, knowing he was barely awake anymore.

I woke up later to the sound of the tv and banging coming from downstairs. I got up and threw on a robe, then went downstairs to find the sources. "Good morning," Miya said, smiling. I smiled back and kissed his forehead, before going into the kitchen. "Morning Love" Kojiro said, walking over to me. He gently kissed me and then sat a cup down at the table, "I made you some tea when I heard the door open." He said. I sat down and stirred the bag around. "Thank you" I said, feeling like I might still be dreaming. "Do you want some food?" He asked, rubbing my shoulder. I nodded and laid my head on the table, feeling an oncoming headache from not getting enough sleep. He leaned down and moved my hair to the side, gently kissed the back of my neck, and then went to get me food. "Kaoru" I lifted my head and Kojiro sat a plate down in front of me. He grabbed some Tylenol and handed it to me, then brought his and Miya's plates over. "Come on kid" He called, and Miya came running.

"So Miya" "Hmm?" He looked at me with his cheeks stuffed with food. I chuckled a bit, "We have a surprise for you." "What surprise?" He asked, cocking his head to the side. "You'll have to see when we go out" I said, giving him a little smirk. "But Mamaaaaa" He whined, "Shh, eat and get dressed. Then we'll go" He began eating fast and I turned to look at Kojiro, who was trying not to laugh at Miya shoving his face full of food. After we all finished Miya ran upstairs, and Kojiro and I cleaned up. "Are you sure you're ok with this?" Ko asked, rubbing my back as I washed the dishes. "Yes. Plus, it'll make him happy." After I finished the dishes we headed upstairs to get ready for the day ahead of us.

"Are you ready?" Kojiro called as we put on our shoes. Miya came running down the stairs, "Yeah!" He yelled, putting on his shoes. Kojiro and I laughed, and opened the door, "Let's go" I said, putting my hands on his shoulders as we walked down the driveway. Kojiro got into the car and buckled up, then started driving. "Can you tell me now Mama?" Miya asked, leaning forward in his seat. "Nope, now sit properly before you get hurt. After 25 minutes we pulled into the parking lots of the surrounding stores, one of which being a pet store. "Are we going to the shoe store?" Miya asked, getting out of the car. "Noooo" Kojiro said in a sing-song voice, grabbing onto Miya's hand. I walked up and grabbed his other hand and we began walking towards the store. "The pet store?" He asked once we got closer to it. I hummed in response, which made him smile like an idiot. "But why?" He asked, stopping once we got right by the door. "We just thought you'd like someone to play with at home," Kojiro said, letting go of his hand. "Come on, let's go" I said, playfully pushing him.

"Oooooo, look at this fish," Miya said, pointing to a betta fish. "Do you want a fish?" I asked, bending over to see the fish. "I thought that's what you meant?" He asked, showing signs of confusion. "Sweetheart, you can get whatever you want,'' I said, smiling. He grinned widely and ran over to the cat enclosures. "Can I get a kitten?" He asked, smiling still. I looked at Kojiro, who shrugged, "I don't see why not." Miya spent an hour playing with all the kittens before, "Mama, I want this one" He said, holding onto a black, orange, and white kitten. I looked at Kojiro, who got up to get an employee. "Are you sure you're ok with me getting a cat?' Miya asked, looking up at me. "Of course dear. Plus, she likes you" I said, smiling. Kojiro came back in with a woman who began explaining things to us. "Ok so, her name is Peaches but you can feel free to rename her. She's already gotten all her shots and she's fixed." I nodded and we got out of the room. "I'll put her aside for you. Do you have a pet carrier already?" "No, I'll need to go buy one first,'' I said. "I'll help you at the front when you're ready"

"Ok Miya. We need a cat carrier" Kojiro said, wrapping his arm around his shoulder. I picked up a grey one, "This one will do." I passed it to Kojiro and we moved onto toys. We picked out a bunch and a litter box, then went back to the front counter. "Wait, you guys go up. I wanna look at one more thing." I said, doubling back. I walked to the back and found the cat houses, choosing out the biggest and nicest one. I picked it up and carried the box up to the front where the other two were waiting for me. I watched Miya put his head down as everything was rung up and we paid. "Wait here, I'll go get the kitten" The lady said, and disappeared into the back room. "Dear, what's wrong?" I said, kneeling down to Miya's level. "I hate when you guys spend money on me,'' he muttered. "I know, I know. But you deserve this" I said, pulling him into a hug.

"Kojiro that's the wrong piece" I said, snatching the post from him. "You're no fun Kaoru" He said, pouting. I glared at him, "I barely got any sleep, don't try me" He sighed and picked up the instruction book, "You're going to bed as soon as we're done building this." He said, frowning. I rolled my eyes and finished helping him build the cat house. "Miya, We're coming in." I said, knocking on his door. I opened the door and saw peaches going absolutely crazy. "Bad timing?" Kojiro asked, chuckling. We put the house down in a spot Miya cleared and sat on his bed. "Do ya like her?" Kojiro asked. "A lot" Miya said, running a toy across the floor that the kitten chased. "I'm glad sweetheart" I said, moving to the floor beside him. "Thank you Mama" He said, climbing onto my lap and hugging me. I hugged back, and then felt Kojiro put his arms around the both of us.
