Among the various lifetimes of the shifters one thing had always remained. Shared secrets that left chaos in the lives of their predecessors; stolen kisses that belonged not just between the two special souls but those who would come after them; and shattered hearts, because death does not just belong to the soul that disappeared but to every person who cared even an inch about them.

Of the shared secrets you left.

Calloused hands weaved their way through messy strands of silver hair as the two shifters gazed off into the night. Their skin was hot against the others but neither of them minded. Their limbs were tangled in one another's as the silver haired girl mumbled a vaguely familiar song.

The couple lay on a bed of grass and were covered with a sheet of darkness. They were sheltered by a ceiling of stars.

"I wish we could just stay here forever." sighed the silver haired girl.

Her lover smiled, "I know."

"Do you want to stay here forever?" The silver haired girl asked.

A prolonged period of silence caused the silver haired girl to turn her head and look towards her lover. From the darkness, the silver haired girl could barely make out her lover's features. His blonde hair looked brown and green eyes (which were arguably his most definitive feature) seemed grey in the darkness.

"As long as I'm with you, it doesn't matter where we are." the blonde haired boy replied.

The moment between the two of them was vaguely familiar yet neither of them would comment on it. There was always a strange nostalgic feeling that filled your senses when you were a shifter.

Moments that might've and should've belonged to you would always be overshadowed by something that you had no control over. There were countless firsts that had been overshadowed all because of past experiences that weren't your own.

Being a shifter wasn't easy to describe though. It is one of those things that someone would need to experience to understand.

It's a connection more intimate than making love. It's an experience that leaves you with thousands of thoughts but nothing to say. It's a moment so fleeting yet eternal as life passes on within each of them.

Romantic relationships for shifters were often... confusing.

There are always so many feelings that need to be sorted through as an everyday person. As a shifter there are even more and most you doubt might even be yours. It was more so for the Crystal Shifters than any others.

Within the blood of every Titan Shifter was the blood of an Eldian. A subject of Ymir. And, within every Crystal Titan Shifter was crystal. Of course, it wasn't the crystal they manipulated but one of a similar sort. In fact, the crystal that ran in their blood was the same crystal that would frost over their left eye. It was what allowed the shifters to manipulate the crystals so easily in their human form.

The silver haired girl's left eye was just starting to show the result of her training.

She was praised for the fruits of her labour in the form of an ailment. She was praised for something that poisoned her. She was praised with every advancement as she lost bits of who she was before.
