Present day. (2013)
Regina headed to Mary Margaret's apartment, hoping no one was home except Mary Margaret. She used her magic to unlock the door when she was right. It was only Mary Margaret sitting on the bed with her head resting on her knee. Regina took off one of her black gloves when she clenched her hand into a fist. This was her chance to get everything she wanted. Mary Margaret looks up at her, but she does not seem scared or even worried.
"Nice try, dearie."
Gold stepped out of nowhere, stopping Regina from getting closer to Mary Margaret. "Did you really think it was gonna be that easy?" Gold asked Regina when Regina just smirked, shaking her head.
"He can't be your guard dog forever," Regina warned, moving to look at Mary Margaret, who just looked up at her.
Gold chuckled before taking his phone out and holding it to Regina. "You might want to check on our little girl instead of plotting murder," Gold said, showing Regina the text from Archie that he and Marco were taking Dream to the hospital, and they couldn't get ahold of Regina.
"What did you do?" Regina spat before walking out, rushing home to check on her daughter.
Thirty years ago.
"So, what can I do to help, Madam Mayor?" Gus, "Cinderella's" mouse, asked as Regina paid him a visit the day after the dinner with Kurt and Owen.
"Kurt Flynn's car." She sighed when he nodded.
"Yeah, the one you asked me to fix asap." He smiled, remembering what the mayor asked him to do just a few days ago.
"Yes. Plans have changed. I now need Mr. Flynn and his son to stay a while longer. Perhaps you can take a couple extra days with the repairs?" Regina suggested when Gus sighed.
"Yeah, I'm afraid Mr. Flynn already picked the car up."
"What? When?" Regina asked him, her eyes widened, wondering why he did not mention that earlier.
"Ten minutes ago..." Gus said, shrugging when he hoped Regina would not take anything out on him.
Present day.
"You know to call me when you have an episode..." Regina said, walking into her house and seeing Dream sitting on the couch, holding her diary on her knees.
"Archie said you weren't picking up your phone." Dream shrugged when Regina walked over, wondering why Dream sounded like her favorite pet died.
"Dream?" She asked, seeing that Dream had been crying due to her tear-stained cheeks and bloodshot eyes. "Honey?" Regina closed Dream's diary when she moved to hug her daughter, who just tensed up in her arms.
"Promise me that you aren't gonna kill Mary Margaret... Revenge is never gonna make you happy, Mom." Dream said while Regina rubbed her back.
Regina did not say anything for a moment before she pulled away, holding Dream as she looked at her. "The curse that brought us here... When I got my revenge the first time... It gave me the two best things in my life." Regina confessed when Dream sighed, looking at her mother. "It gave me you and Henry. And I could not ask for more. But she needs to pay." Regina said when Dream sighed, shaking her head weakly since it was still sore.
"If you do... You know that it will cause you to lose us both." Dream said when Regina's face softened, moving her arms from Dream's.
"Dream, you don't mean that..." Regina sighed, her voice breaking from the heartache that she felt.
"I won't be able to help you, Mom... I learned that several times. So, I'm asking... No. I-I'm begging you. Please. Don't do this."
Thirty years ago.
Regina rushed to her office, getting a small chest out of her locked drawer. She opens the box up to see a glowing heart. Without hesitation, she picks it up and starts to speak. "Sheriff, our visitors are driving out of Storybrooke. Find them before they cross the town line, pull the car over, and arrest the father for drunk driving. Then bring the boy to me--" Regina said, into the heart, before turning to see Kurt, who was listening. Regina rushed to put the heart in the small chest while she looked at a loss for words to explain herself. "Kurt?" She said, still not sure what to say.
"Mayor?" Kurt said as Regina stood up, trying to think of something she could say.
"That wasn't what it sounded like..." She tried to explain herself.
"I don't want any trouble. I just came by to say thank you, and..." Kurt said, raising his hands up in defense when he tried to back up subtly.
"Wait, it was just a misunderstanding--" Regina tried to say as Kurt shut down the excuse Regina was trying to come up with.
"No, I understood. We're leaving." Kurt said, backing up towards the door, this time making it more obvious.
"I'm not going to hurt him. Please don't leave...' Regina tried to plead.
"Whoa, mate, you're not going anywhere," Graham said, rushing into the room and pinning Kurt up against Regina's desk.
"What are you doing?" Kurt asked as Graham had the upper hand, overpowering Kurt.
"I'm afraid you're under arrest for driving under the influence," Graham said, pulling Kurt's arms behind him as Regina stood frozen.
"What, drunk? I'm not drunk, and I sure haven't been driving!" Kurt fought while looking up at Regina.
"Don't make this harder on yourself," Graham said, trying to keep his hands behind him.
"What did you do to him?" Kurt asked Regina. "She's controlling you. I don't know how, but she had this glowing thing. It was shaped like a heart. Don't listen to her," Kurt said, trying to get through to Graham.
"And you say you haven't been drinking?" Graham chuckled, getting his handcuffs out, when Kurt moved one of his hands, knocking over the box with Graham's heart, making him groan in pain.
Kurt ran while Graham groaned, holding onto his chest.
"What was that?" Graham asked Regina.
Kurt ran to his car and got in, as Owen looked confused.
"Dad, what's wrong?" Owen asked, seeing his dad look frantic.
"We gotta get outta here," Kurt said, driving away from City Hall.
