David led the way, grabbing some vines to help the girls make rope while Hook followed behind him. David kept breathing heavily due to the poison spreading, so Hook decided to speak up.
"What would you like to yell at me about now, Dave?" Hook asked when David scoffed to himself.
"Stay away from Dream and my daughter," David said, making Hook sigh to himself.
"Well, Dream can take care of herself. She doesn't need your parenting, and frankly, you're not her father, anyway. Which is a good thing." Hook said, taking out his bottle of rum and taking a drink of it.
"I may not be, but I wager her real father would be a lot harsher than me... And what do you mean by a good thing?" David asked when Hook sighed to himself.
"It means you're gonna die in a day or so, anyway." Hook shrugged while they continued to walk around.
"Nothing I can do about that. But if I do die..." David stopped when he turned to look at Hook.
"When..." Hook corrected him.
"...it will be in helping my family. And Dream is a part of that. That's something someone like you can't understand." David said, walking forward again when Hook sighed again.
"What if I told you there was a way to save you?" Hook asked him, making David turn around again.
"Because anything that takes us off course of saving Henry is selfish. But, of course, you would think that was the way to go." David scoffed at him, turning to walk away again.
"Bugger off. What, you think I'm being selfish? I'm risking my life for all of you. Every moment I'm here aligned against him-"
"Please." David scoffed at him. "You're not here out of any nobility. You're here for Dream. And let me tell you something else. You're never gonna get her. I'll see to that..." He continued to say to Hook, who scoffed at him.
"It's a good thing you're gonna die then," Hook smirked when David went to punch him for his comment, but he got weak when Hook moved to help him down. "All right, mate, stop... I don't fight invalids. Mate?" Hook said when he set David down on the ground, but he was unconscious, worrying Hook.
After a few minutes, David stirred up when Hook poured rum into his mouth, but he coughed, moving to sit up.
"Have another drink." Hook said, helping him stand up.
"No. Thank you. I'm okay now." David said, still coughing.
"No, you're not. I thought you had days left." Hook sighed when he got David up, leaning him against the side of the small hill. "Let me see... Let me see." Hook demanded when David kept breathing hard before he lifted up his shirt to reveal his cut that became even more.
It was spreading towards his heart.
"The Dreamshade has almost reached your heart... It's hours now. You have to tell your family." Hook said, really concerned for David.
"No. Not when I can still help them save Henry." David said, moving, but Hook kept him back.
"Catch your breath, mate, or what little time you have will be less." Hook sighed when David gave up, needing to rest for a moment.
Hook sighed, rubbing his face, while he looked around, trying to think of some way to help David. David looked down to the ground when he saw something buried a little in the dirt.
"What's that?" Hook asked him as David moved to dust off the dirt.
"It's a military insignia. "Jones." You know him?" David asked, seeing the name on the back, before tossing it to Hook.
