XALIR:

After a rough couple days, I am now feeling much happier! I proposed to Laiva on our lunch date, I returned to work at the hair salon for the next few couple hours.

I know I could've just asked my boss Eyrik if I could go home to be with my fiancé, as I'm very good friends with him. But, I'd rather leave Laiva to herself for a couple hours. I know her, and I know she likes her quiet time.

But, I also know that the ones I loved aren't safe from Oppugnant. Aacis's death proved that. Although, Laiva isn't likely to act as Rotcetorp's decoy any time soon. That means that she's safer than Aacis ever was.

Having her as my betrothed actually motivates me even more now to protect her and finish my mission to destroy Oppugnant.

I can't wait to see her! My shift ends in thirty minutes. I'm currently doing some sweeping of the floor, happily humming to myself.

Bang.

Out of the corner of my left eye, I see a bright flash of light, and I hear screams from outside. I rush through the  glass entrance of the salon to get a better look, but I'm not prepared for what I'm about to see.

On the right side of the street, at the end of the grey dirt road leading to the marshlands,  a blinding explosion ripples throughout several tall skyrises. It fades away to reveal the charred husks of a few residential towers, and that's when my heart is torn out.

Laiva and I's apartment was in one of those towers, and now, it's been destroyed, with Laiva still in it!

My blood boils with rage and vengeance as I spot Oppugnant hovering in the air. They seem to be staring at me, but I don't care. If I could, I would launch myself into the air and fight my nemesis right now. But, not only am I frozen in fear, I'm also not wearing my Rotcetorp suit. It's on Teglyo. I hope Lygor, Noldv and Equaaz can give me a new clothing disk. It would make changing into my superhero costume so much easier.

While I'm frozen in shock, Oppugnant flies off into the atmosphere, disappearing into the purple sky. I focus my attention back on the apartment, and bolt as fast as I can to the apartment. It's wooden walls are now a charred grey, ash dripping from them as the apartment tower creaks ominously.

"LAIVA!" I scream frantically at the tower. "Laiva!"

I don't know why I'm screaming her name. I know that my worst fears have already been realised. Laiva, the love of my life, is now dead, cruelly taken by Oppugnant's evil.

Just like Aacis, I lament.

I will personally hunt Oppugnant down to the ends of the galaxy until their corpse finally rests at my feet.  Oppugnant must die!
