it was another dull evening on the castle grounds, according to chan. although the area surrounding him was spacious and beautiful, he couldn't help but tire of the seemingly stagnant air of the castle lobby.

not far behind the young prince stood his personal bodyguard. the two rarely interacted, as each had their own responsibilities to attend to. however, neither of them would deny their enjoyment of each other's familiar company.

youngest in line for the throne, chan couldn't help but wonder what he would do in the future. while he would certainly serve by his elder sisters side, he had not yet found where his heart truly lied, and he felt rushed with his sisters coronation being but days away.

as if on cue, chan's sister walked into the room. she ushered her little brother to the dining room, where she had just finished eating.

"you must eat more, chan. you always eat so late and so little. soon you'll be but a mere shadow of a man."

"i know hannah. i suppose my appetite goes away with my thoughts."

"well, think less. eat more." she sat him down and gave felix a smile as she left the room.

the prince stared at the plate of food in front of him. he was alone at the table in a dining room the size of the village's butcher shop, and he didn't believe he could possibly feel more lonely. he sighed and leaned back.

"eat." a voice broke the silence

chan's head shot up and towards his bodyguard.

"you need to eat." he repeated

the boy, smaller than chan, had an air of authority about him. years of physical training and work had given the young man a strong physique as well as a strong mind.

despite his obvious strength, chan always thought the boy was quite small. he needed armor custom made, and the shapes of his body reminded chan of his sister. moreover, he knew his personal guard ate small portions at short intervals, as he needed to be by chan's side at all times. there was doubt in his mind that felix had eaten today.

"i think you need to try this for me."

felix cocked an eyebrow.

"you'd rather your prince be poisoned?" chan said, returning the expression and pushing his plate in the direction of his guard

slowly, felix walked towards the table, not letting go of the hilt of his sword.

"what worries you, sire?"

chan frowned at the name. he had told felix before that he didn't like royal titles, and was annoyed that he ignored the fact.

"you do not need to call me sire."

felix didn't reply.

pointedly, chan tore off a small piece of meat and held it on his fork in front of the younger. felix made a move to take the fork, but it was moved out of his reach. chan once more held the food in front of felix, who understood that chan wanted to feed him.

unsure of why, the guard complied and carefully took the piece of chicken off of the fork.

"it seems fine sire."

still annoyed that felix would not listen to him, chan continued "you ought to try the wine as well. go on, sit."

"i mustn't sire."

"sit, felix."

this night was odd. felix didn't normally speak this much, nor did chan ever call him by his name. still, he had to obey. he sat.
