this one shot is based off of the song beautiful stranger by laufey. it's a really good song and y'all should go listen to it if you wanna. i love writing short, soft stories like this (it's kinda similar to my story he was never mine, which is published on my page). i'm sorry that it's so short but i really like this style of writing. enjoy!

it was tuesday morning when he first saw him. that beautiful stranger.

he was going to work and boarded the bus at 8 in the morning. he worked at the campus library and headed there almost every day when he didn't have class, working or to studying.

and the beautiful stranger sat three rows back from the doors.

the morning sun sat on his shoulders and he squinted his eyes, looking out the window for a moment. the rays brightened his brunette hair, turning it to a golden brown and made his lips shine.

the beautiful stranger read a book most days.

he wondered if the man ever went to campus library when he was there, working or studying. if they may have crossed paths, but were too focused to notice the other.

the beautiful stranger looked up at the man in front of him.

he saw dark black hair halfway tied back in a ponytail. the sun barely penetrated the strands in front of his face, but reflected off his silver accessories. he had an old leather book bag around his shoulders that matched well with the simple black pants and white polo he had on.

the beautiful stranger smiled and looked back down.

he could swear his heart dropped as he watched him. the smile was for him. but then he heard the bus doors open as they came to his stop. his own smiled dropped as he walked slowly off.

the beautiful stranger didn't look back up.

and he thought as he walked away from the bus, what if he hadn't gotten off? if he'd stayed, gathered his courage, would he know his name? exchanged a few words for the price of being late to a shift? would a fairytale moment have occurred? but all of these were maybes, and he knew that.

his beautiful stranger would remain a beautiful stranger until they saw each other again.
