felix thanked the cab driver as he got out of the car, gazing up at the studio building in front of him. he sucked in a breath, trying to calm him nerves before heading inside.

once inside, he kept checking his phone to make sure that he was going to the right place. he really didn't want to get lost his first day on the job.

he'd been hired as a backup dancer for a performer. a performer he really liked. not expecting to actually be picked, felix recorded an audition and sent it in, only to receive an email with his acceptance and information on practice.

now, he was walking through a large building trying to find the practice room he was supposed to be at. he silently cursed at himself, heart quickening as the fact that he'd probably be late became more and more likely.

the young brunette scrolled desperately through the email and bumped forcefully into someone's chest.

"shit! i'm so sorry." he said instinctively in english.

the man in front of him picked up the shorters phone and handed it back to him, speaking in accented but clear english, "it's okay, no worries."

felix bowed to the man and looked up, finally realizing who he'd bumped into. the tall man in front of him was none other than his employer, the performer hwang hyunjin.

"felix, right?" hyunjin said after a moment of awkward silence.

"oh, um yes. yeah i'm felix."

"need help finding the practice room? i'm heading back there now."

"that'd be great."

felix silently followed hyunjin as he lead him to the practice room, cheeks burning at their first encounter. they entered the room together and felix immediately shuffled off to the corner where the other backup dancers were warming up. he set his bag down and took a deep breath, once again trying to calm his anxiety.

a man around his age walked up to him and held out his hand. felix looked from the hand up to the man, confused.

"stretch with me." he said simply.

felix took the man's hand in his own and they squatted down, pulling away from each other. for another few minutes, the two made small talk and stretched.

"how long have you been dancing, felix?" the man, who felix learned was named minho, asked.

"since i was three. i always loved dancing when i was a kid, so i moved to korea to pursue my career."

"that's awesome. i started dancing around the same time. i was in a dance group that's pretty famous around korea. some of my old friends are now professionals or choreographers for different entertainment companies."

felix stared at his new friend, stunned. what was someone so talented and qualified doing as a backup dancer? he could become as famous as hyunjin!

but before he could ask any further questions, hyunjin loudly clapped to get everyone's attention. all sound immediately stopped and every pair of eyes was fixed on hyunjin.

damn, this guy has some sort of magic.

"okay everyone, let's get started. i hope you all have warmed up because we're going to jump straight into it."

for the first few minutes, hyunjin asked each dancer their skill levels and placed them in their spots. felix and minho were mirrored on either side of hyunjin, as they were the most experienced dancers.

"actually, felix let's move you." hyunjin said, studying the setup.

slightly disappointed, felix walked to the front to be replaced. while hyunjin once again gave directions, that was when he noticed that there was an odd number of dancers.

once the spots were finalized, felix realized that there was no place for him. his heart once again began to race and his cheeks heated; he could barely breath. minho noticed this and true to catch the younger's attention, smiling at him and scrunching his nose when he succeeded.

"felix, you're going to be dancing with me." hyunjin said, turning back to the small boy.

"what?" he said.

"you remember that one dancer will be performing with me, right? it should have been included with the other information in the email."

"yeah, but i thought they'd already been chosen."

hyunjin chuckled and gave the smaller a pat on the shoulder, telling him to learn the dance in the back and that they'd go over their own part later.

see, what was particularly interesting about hyunjin was that he was openly gay. he used his fame and earnings to bring attention to lgbt issues around the world and in korea. felix admired him greatly for it, and he wasn't too subtle about his own sexuality either.

an hour later, hyunjin told the dancers to take a break. minho came over and chatted with felix for a minute before hyunjin too went over to him.

"the other choreographers will handle the rest of their practice." he explained. "let's go learn your part."

hyunjin lead felix down the hall to another practice that was slightly smaller. over the next hour, the two learned their partner dance. multiple times, felix found himself staring at the taller while he explained. the latter also found himself staring once the smaller had understood the instructions and began dancing.

the dance wasn't incredibly intimate, but was certainly enough to get both boys hearts beating. luckily, it was also physically demanding, erasing all worry of their excitement being noticed.

they eventually reached the end of the song. it was complex, involving felix flipping over hyunjin and spinning into his arms. this meant that their ending pose was felix being wrapped in hyunjin's arms.

after a quick water break, they ran the entire number. both were focused on themselves, ensuring their dancing was perfectly on beat. soon, the end came and the music died out, leaving the two boys panting, staring into each other's eyes.

"your freckles..." hyunjin whispered.

instinctively, he brought his hand up and cupped felix's face. he brushed his thumb over his now pink cheeks, admiring his soft features.

"you look beautiful." he said, seemingly shocked by the small man.

slowly, the two brought their lips together. felix's eyes fluttered shut, enjoying the feeling of hyunjin's skin against his own. a few seconds later they pulled apart, placing their foreheads together.

"i'm sorry." hyunjin said slowly, dropping his arms and taking a step away.

he walked to his things and took a large drink from his water bottle. head down, he turned back to felix.

"i should have asked before doing something like that."

"you can ask now." felix walked up to him.

"felix... can i kiss you?" he said, already staring at his lips.

the shorter smiled and went up on his toes, reaching his arms around hyunjin's neck and pressing their lips together.

the two continued to perform together for several years, becoming the most popular dance couple, and advocating for lgbt rights.
