"They did it."She whispered in slight disbelief. After the announcement she was afraid to see how one of them would kill each other but instead they opted for suicide. A brave act it was and if she thought about it...Perhaps she would have done the same in their shoes. But that doesn't matter. They won and that was all that matter now. "They did indeed, princess."Haymitch said, finishing his drink as he put the glass down on the coffee table, a sigh leaving his chapped lips as he rubbed his temples. He had put so much time and effort in these two and finally it paid off. Finally they had victors...
"I can't wait to see them back."She said softly, a smile forming on her lips as she stood up. "I hope they will be okay and I'm sure they're going to be taken care of!"She chirped, clapping her hands together as Haymitch watched her. If only she knew what that move had caused... He wasn't even sure if they were safe. He could name a dozen of people who would be furious about the outcome of these Hunger Games and one of them was a huge problem. "Yeah and you're gonna be stuck with them for the rest of your carreer, sweetheart."He stated, deciding that perhaps he needed another drink which was how he managed to not see the schocked expression on Effie's face when his words registered. "What do you mean?"She asked as he poured himself a glass of whiskey. "You got yourself a new pair of mentors, princess."He answered, holding his glass up as a cheer. "Does it mean you're no longer gonna be here?"She asked in a whisper as he raised an eyebrow at that. Was she getting sentimental with him?
Pray the lord she wasn't because he wasn't drunk enough to deal with an emotional Effie Trinket...
"It means I'm retiring, sweetheart."He stated with a shrug, finishing his drink quickly. "Don't tell me you're not glad to be rid off me."He added with a wink. The wheels in her head were turning. Wasn't she supposed to be glad with this news? She would be able to work much better with Peeta as he was not constantly drinking and getting himself in trouble. Even Katniss would be good but... They weren't him. How much she hated to admit it, she was going to miss him. Quite a lot. All the trouble he caused kept her minds off the Games but if he weren't there to cause it than she would have to really face it all and realize she was the reason for all those innocent children getting killed. Than she would realize more and more that she was a murderer. That maybe she should be in that Arena and face the consequences of everything she had done...
Would she survive this all without him?
"We still got some time left, princess. Enough time to say our goodbyes before our ways part."He said, noticing how she zoned out, lost in her thoughts as she blinked a couple of times to get out of her head as her eyes met his grey ones. "Yes, enough time to say goodbye indeed..."

There was a tension between Peeta and Katniss after they got on the train to return to their District and there was some tension between Effie and Haymitch as they also returned. Well, she did not return she brought them back and would then return to what she was supposed to call her home. While in reality this train felt more like her home. The penthouse they stayed in during the Games felt more like her home...
"You're awfully quite, princess."Haymitch spoke as he entered the compartment were the bar was located. He was surprised to find her here staring at the glass of wine she held in her hand. He was even more surprised that she had not noticed him yet when he had filled his glass with whiskey that is when he decided to say something which caused her to look up, only now acknowledging him. "Just wondering."She muttered with a wave of her hand as she took a sip of her wine. Normally he would have left and decided to just leave the Escort alone with her thoughts as he would state to himself he did not care about her but somehow he ended up next to her on the couch she sat, his arm around the back of the seat as he leant back, watching her. "Mind to share what it is?"He asked which seemed to surprise her as she raised an eyebrow at that almost in a question as if he really wanted to know that and was not messing around with her. "Just spill it it, sweetheart."He said as a sign he really wanted to know.
"I'm just thinking about how the next Games will be."She answered with a shrug, not looking at him. "The same as they always are, princess."He said back with a frown as she sighed at that, shaking her head. "They won't."She said sternly. "And why won't they?"He asked curious as she turned around to face him, her blue eyes meeting his. "You won't be there."She simply said as if it would explain everything but it only confused him more. Why would it be different without him? He had expected that she would be glad to finally be rid off him but now here she sat, stating that it was not going to be the same. "You're gonna miss my trouble?"He asked with a raised eyebrow, hearing how a huff left her lips as she put her glass down. "I'm going to miss you."She said as he stared at her glass. Was she drunk? She had to be drunk...
"You're not going to miss me, sweetheart. I was a pain in your ass."He said back with a shake of his head. "But you kept me sane."She said softly, her bottom lip trembled slightly as she admitted that. "If it weren't for you, I don't think I could have keep doing this."She added in a whisper. "But isn't this what you want to do?"He asked, scanning the room as if he was afraid this was some trick. "You think I enjoy killing all those innocent children?"She hissed, shaking her head. "I'm always pulling those cards out of those bowls. I'm the one who they hate the most when they die in that Arena. I'm the one their families hate the most as I'm the reason their children died. I hate myself for it..."She whispered, a sob leaving her lips as she stood up. "I'm going to go to bed. I'm sorry."She muttered. Why did she tell him this?
"Sweetheart!"Haymitch called out, stopping her from leaving the compartment as he made his way towards her, doing the one thing he never thought he would ever do. He wrapped his arms around her tiny posture and pulled her in a hug. He felt how she broke in his embrace, sobs leaving her lips as she shook in his arms and all he could do was hold her tight as if holding her would keep her from completely losing it all. As if he would be able to keep her from breaking down if his arms were around her. "You wanna know a secret, princess?"He asked in a whisper, his chin resting on her head. "I don't hate you. I could never hate you, Effie."
