Chapter 1 - The Girl With the Aqua Coloured Eyes

Tanjirou's POV

"Ok, Nezuko, we're here now. I know you're probably really excited, but I want you to stick to me and don't walk off" I said as I started getting out of the car. I opened the door for her and then went to get the suitcases out of the car, we were allowed one small suitcase and a large backpack with a strict list of what we were and weren't allowed to bring on board. I helped Nezuko put her backpack on and then put my own on. I took both suitcases out of the trunk and then locked the car.

Whenever I take Nezuko out to a crowded area, I use a child harness of sorts. A thick fabric band with a buckle and a lock attaches onto her wrist, and the other band goes around my wrist with the small key attached to it. There is a reinforced plastic cord that attached both bands.

It's not that I don't trust her, but I've lost her before, and it was very scary. She went missing for three days once when I took her to the amusement park, and since she's my only family I treasure her more than words could ever describe. I've tried a harness that wraps around her chest, she didn't like it, and other harnesses that attach to her wrist with a buckled or Velcro she's taken off or cut the plastic cord. I do it because I care about her, I don't want her to get lost and get hurt. I'll take it off her once we get onto the ship.

We walked through the crowds of people, there were several people with suitcases and there was some cargo being loaded onto the large ship. The ship was white and large, with the characters: 鬼滅の刃, which read 'Demon Slayer'. I smiled at the name of the ship, it was a little funny in my opinion, but I liked it, it was cool.

I looked around at all the other people, some people were already boarding the ship. I saw the familiar head of pink and green hair boarding the ship. I started after her, getting on the boat. I walked onto the board between the dock and the ship, I was excited to be getting on this ship. A new adventure for us to do together, I'm glad I got this opportunity, and I'm glad that I was able to get Nezuko on the ship too. I wouldn't have agreed to come if Nezuko couldn't come too. I'm coming on as a surgeon, and Nezuko's coming on as Mitsuri's apprentice in the kitchen. It was a crazy coincidence that Mitsuri and I were both invited on the same ship, and that Mitsuri was allowed an apprentice. And since Nezuko was working in her restaurant at the time, she offered to take Nezuko so I could go too.

Which was super kind of her, I think Nezuko will also enjoy this, since we don't travel often. I'm usually at the hospital and Nezuko knows that she works at the restaurant and she is supposed to go there. Which is very relieving since I know she won't wander off when she's supposed to be at work.

"Mitsuri" I called to her as we walked through the halls of the ship behind her. She turned around and smiled brightly when she saw us.

"Tanjirou, Nezuko!" she said as she came towards us, "I'm so glad you're here"

"Yeah, I'm glad we found you early, I wasn't sure if we were supposed to come onto the ship or not" I said.

"Well I met with the captain, and he said that I could just go into the kitchen, let me take Nezuko with me so you can go to orientation" she said with an extended hand.

"Sure, I don't want to trouble you though," I said nervously.

"Don't be silly, I'd love to take her," she said brightly.

I unlocked the band around Nezuko's wrist and took the band off my own and slipped it into my bag. Mitsuri took Nezuko's suitcase and her hand and started leading her in the way that I can assume to be the kitchen. I kept walking through the halls of the boat until I arrived at a large hall with long wooden tables and a large counter in the center of it.

The floors were wooden, like the rest of the ship. The walls were a metal white, and there was another floor above the long tables that was open to the bottom floor that had a metal and rope fence. There were circular windows all over the walls, and the place smelled like sea water. I could see that there was more on the top floor but I was just going to wait here. I took a seat on one of the wooden benches, after a few minutes, some more people started coming in.
