Giyuu's POV
After another few hours we still hadn't gotten anywhere. Or at least we still hadn't seen anything, Sabito was going crazy over it and now I was really starting to get worried.
I walked down to the hull, I needed to talk to him, maybe she'd know something about it too.
She stood there, as if she'd been waiting for me or something. The sliver of her figure peeking from behind the slightly opened door.
"Welcome back" she greeted with a small smile.
"Where are we?" I asked her.
"In the hull" she said in a patronizing tone as if I were a 7 year old.
"In the ocean, where are we in the ocean?" I asked again.
"I don't know, aren't you guys supposed to be the navigators?" she smiled sweetly once again.
"But you know, don't you?" I asked her, "Why can't we find any land?"
"I thought Shinazugawa told you?" she chuckled.
"Quit lying, I want to know why we can't find any land" I snapped at her.
"It's simple really, there is no more land, now there is only the seafloor" she said in a calm voice.
I glared at her, "I don't believe you"
"That really sounds like a you problem, not a me problem" she said with a small sigh, "We've told you what has happened, it's your choice to believe it or not"
"I want another choice" I snapped again.
"There are none, either live the pretty lie that you'll eventually find land, or realize the harsh truth that there is no more land left, and simply survive" she sighed, "We're lucky actually, we're on this boat and it didn't sink during the storm. You should be happy we're even alive"
"You should be happy I haven't thrown you overboard yet" I said.
"Believe it or not, there's nothing you can do" she sighed, "If that's all then you can leave now"
She retreated back into the room, I walked away and tried to remember exactly what Shinazugawa and I had said to each other. Searching for some sort of clue.
"The mainland is gone, now it's just a series of ships from different places in the sea. The company's experiment was never this ship, this ship was just a failsafe. The shock from the accelerator sank the mainland, now everything's underwater and the company has control" he said slowly. "Disobey and I'll dispose of you, and Sabito, it wouldn't be very hard. So watch your step" he threatened.
"Why should I believe you?" I asked.
"Do you really want to take the risk? When the two months are over we'll head to the mainland, when you don't find it then you'll believe me" he chuckled.
"So what? Everyone's just dead?" I asked.
"That's exactly right, there was a 15% chance that the accelerator would fail. That's why we're here, this boat is humanity's fail safe in case everything went wrong" he sighed, "It did, so now we're here"
Everything he'd said had been so random to me, but now, I really did only have two choices. Believe, or not. Live, or die.
I guess I choose to live... when did not dying become so damn complicated?
Tanjirou's POV
"It worked, it worked Mitsuri! I doubted you but your advice didn't fail me!" I exclaimed happily.
