Tanjirou's POV

I sat in class, thankfully last night there were no life-threatening thunderstorms and Inosuke had finally gotten his snoring under control. I think maybe he got intimidated by all the threats that Muichiro gave him before we went to sleep.

"Alright class, today we'll be reviewing how to purify salt water so it becomes safe to drink" Mr. Shinazugawa started saying a bunch of things that I wasn't following.

I was staring at the back of Muichiro's head with an intensity. I don't know why, but I tuned everything else out so I could focus on the back of his head. For whatever reason, his luscious locks captivated me.

I went the rest of the class half heartedly, taking notes and staring at the back of Muichiro's head. When I went back to review my notes after class I saw that they were just bundles of words, some were actual notes but some were just my thoughts on Muichiro's hair that I had subconsciously written down. In the end I had to ask Zenitsu if I could copy his notes, he happily agreed though, he was nice like that.

I had gotten to know my fellow peers and crewmates, but I was becoming close friends with Zenitsu and Inosuke since they were my roommates and we naturally spent more time together. But not Muichiro, he was ice cold. And Genya and Rui were more closed off, not cold per-se just tough to talk to. I know it was only the third day, but I didn't even know what Muichiro did for a living. Even for strangers that was a pretty stationary question, but every time I tried to talk with him he would just abruptly walk off and ignore me.

I had already met and kind of befriended everyone else on the ship, but he enjoyed making things difficult for some reason.

The guys in the other cabin were pretty nice, Himejima was a construction worker, Rengoku was a technician, Obanai lawyer, and Uzui was an engineer.

Then the girls, there weren't as many girls as there were guys, but they were pretty nice. Kanao was a teacher, she taught all the grades from pre-k to grade 9. She said that elementary was easier and more fun than junior high, since she'd also taught some junior high classes for a while before going back to elementary. Aoi was a surgical nurse, it was nice to find another doctor, we had several things in common because of our jobs. There was also a scientist of sorts working in a lab farther down in the ship, her name was Shinobu, but she never told me what she specialized in. When I asked her what she did she just said she was a scientist. And of course I know that Mitsuri is the cook, she owned two restaurants and was planning to open a new one next year.

Although Shinobu and Mitsuri got their own smaller rooms.

I knew that Inosuke was an agriculturist but he also has a background in fishing and hunting, and Zenitsu said he taught history in one of the most prestigious schools in the country.

Overall the people on the ship were pretty interesting. But the most interesting was Muichiro, he was the loner that nobody knew. I knew near to nothing about him, but I wanted to know more, like a book whose pages were stuck together. So all I knew about it was what the title was and what the cover looked like.

I was in the lounge right now, there was a leather couch and a few leather chairs surrounding a dark green carpet on the floor. Then there were a few shelves built into the wall full of books, there were also a few wooden tables. There was also a cubby filled with board games and a few decks of cards. There were a few windows with views to the deck and the ocean that dotted the room.

"Hey Muichiro, why don't you come play a game with us?" I asked him with a big smile. Now that class was over our time around the ship was our own unless we got chores. So I liked to play games and get to know other people, but Muichiro likes to snuggle up in a chair farthest from anybody else and read a book. I held nothing against him though, I used to be a bookworm just like him, I would sit alone at lunch with Nezuko and find a quiet place to read and eat. Usually away from the cafeteria, I always preferred underneath the stairwell during the winter months, but during the summer I ate outside.
