Tanjirou's POV
"How is he? Aoi said Muichiro passed out on the examination table" Kanao said at the dinner table.
"Yeah, he passed out from exhaustion but he'll be alright. The bite was deep but not very big" Tanjirou said, "He'll be fine"
"I had a feeling about it, I knew there was something in there" Zenitsu mumbled from across the table.
"What's that Zenitsu?" I asked.
"I had a horrible feeling about the water, that's why I didn't get in, I was about to when Muichiro screamed. I almost fell in had I not been holding onto the rails for dear life" he explained.
"I'm sure it wasn't anything too bad, Muichiro says he thinks it was a deep sea fish that was brought up by the storm. He wanted to examine whatever we pulled out of his leg" I said, "I'm sure it's nothing"
"No Tanjirou you don't understand, I even heard it. There's something out there that doesn't belong in the sea" he mumbled with a pale face.
"Zenitsu, I know you're a bit spooked because of what happened with Muichiro but we're going to keep moving and it's not like that thing climbed on board" I said calmly, "It's probably long gone by now"
"We'll see, maybe it'll crawl into our room in the middle of the night and take a chunk out of Zenitsu's face," Inosuke laughed heartily.
"Shut up, don't say stupid things like that" Zenitsu snapped.
"Please Inosuke, you're freaking Zenitsu out" I said.
"He isn't!" Zenitsu defended, "It's just stupid"
"Hah, little scaredy cat!" Inosuke laughed again.
That night Muichiro stayed in the infirmary with Shinobu, apparently she had some work to get done anyway so she didn't mind staying with him for a few hours to take care of him.
But I just couldn't sleep, I was restless thinking about him for several hours. And it finally got to me.
I slipped into the hall silently and closed the door carefully behind me. The ship rocked carefully as I walked through the halls down towards the hull of the ship where the infirmary was.
There was little to no noise aside from my own footsteps. But eventually I quietly made it to the infirmary.
Muichiro was lying on the examination bed with a blanket over him. There was a small lamp on a desk on the opposite side of the room from Muichiro. He was curled up on the bed in fresh clothes, I'd brought them down and changed him. I'm a doctor so it's not weird. But the only thing is that I've never really changed a patient. That's something that usually falls on the nurses. I've tried to help them before but they insist that I get on with my work instead of sticking around.
Aoi helped me though which was really nice of her, and thankfully there was only the one needle thing. Which meant we opened up good stitches for nothing. But had we not opened them and there was something in there, it would've been pretty bad. Especially if the wound had healed over before we took it out.
The room was just about the size of one of the cabins. There were two examination beds pushed against the wall next to each other. The other three walls were lined with shelves and cabinets. There was a long desk with cupboards above it, under some other cabinets were counters with drawers and there was even a sink. In the cabinets there were medicines and pills and all sorts of medical equipment for any scenario. Although there was one large wooden cupboard with a lock on it. Unlike the cabinets, its doors weren't glass so I couldn't see what was inside.
