Mary p.o.v
I was beginning to worry that this wasn't such a good idea, after Freddie said goodbye to Rosalie she went to her room and hasn't come out since, that was three hours ago. I wasn't dumb, I knew that Rosalie had harbored hard feelings about me and who could blame her? I wasn't proud of some of my decisions, but I was trying now, didn't that count for something? David had told me not to worry, that she would come around soon. I hoped he was right, I was just making supper, I wasn't quite sure what she liked so I just decided to make roast chicken with boiled potatoes. I was nearly done, "Rosalie dear!" I called to her down the hallway, "suppers nearly ready! Will you come set the table" I turned back to the stove hoping she would listen to me, I was relieved when I heard her door open and she walked in opening the cabinet. "Any specific china you want?" She asked and I shrugged, "I don't mind," I heard Rosalie take out dishes and start placing them on the table, "your father should be calling after dinner" I said, Rosalie stopped for a moment before continuing, "alright." Dinner was very quiet, the unsettling type of quiet. Rosalie barely spoke, only answering short questions that David or I would ask, and when my pregnancy was brought up that only seemed to make matters worse. She kept her head down and ate her food quickly before asking to be excused. I gave her permission and started cleaning up, it wasn't long after that, when the phone started ringing. "Hello?" I asked and immediately heard Freddie on the other line. "Hello my love, we just arrived at our hotel, how has everything been? Is Rosalie behaving herself for you?" I sighed slightly, "she's behaving herself, I just can't seem to get her to open up, she barely is even looking at me let alone speaking to me, although I can't really blame her." Freddie clicked his tongue, "nonsense Mary dear, it isn't your fault, I think she's still sulking that I left her in London instead of taking her with me." I nodded, he was probably right, " why is it you left her?" I asked genuinely curious, he hasn't left her while he went to a different country since the night I, well you know. Freddie laughed slightly, "well I have a friend here, you know her, Barbara Valentin, Rosalie is not a fan, and the last time she saw her she said that she needed to open a Bible more than she opened her legs." My mouth dropped, "you can't be serious," I said shocked, "unfortunately I am, and that was only one of many things she said, I spanked her soundly for it but she still doesn't have remorse, I can't trust her to keep her mouth shut around Barbara, and if the press catch her saying something like that then there will be hell to pay." I nodded, that made sense, he was just trying to protect her like the wonderful father he was. You could use a lesson Mary, I thought to myself. "To be fair though," I retaliated "Barbara is a trashy person," Freddie didn't even skip a beat, "oh absolutely" he agreed, "still there is a time and place to say things and to her face is not one of those times." I nodded once more, "it is unfortunate the poor dear got a spanking over it, I'm sure that just made her even more resentful towards Barbara." Freddie scoffed slightly, "Barbara didn't make her say any of those things Mary, she knew full well what would happen if she spoke that way, and she still did it, she deserved every bit of what I gave to her." I sighed, "yes well, I don't know if I would have the heart to warm her bottom, I would give anything up at the first sight of tears." Freddie chuckled slightly, "that's just your kind heart, not to worry darling I don't think you will ever have to take that action." I smiled slightly, "do you want to talk to Rosalie?" I could almost hear Freddie's excitement as he exclaimed, "oh yes please, I miss my baby, but I want you to listen in on another phone, because if she gets an attitude I'll be handling it, so I want you to know how to handle it yourself." I furrowed my eyebrows, "Freddie I don't think that will be necessary, she's been behaving well, and been doing what I ask her." Freddie didn't miss a beat, "I'm very happy that she is behaving but at the moment she isn't upset with you, she is upset with me, and I know that there will be conflict that arises, I don't want you to be put in a position where you don't know how to handle that conflict." I nodded, "alright that sounds reasonable, just give me a moment I'll call Rosalie down" I set the phone on the desk, "Rosalie! Your father is on the phone,"Rosalie was out of her room in an instant and I pointed to the phone in the living room before going to the phone in the kitchen to listen in. "Hello papa." Rosalie said, sounding almost bitter but Freddie chose to ignore it. "Hello my darling, how are you?" Rosalie scoffed, but Freddie shut it down, "stop that shit." He staid sternly, "I'm done with your attitude, this isn't personal against you, it's not like I didn't want you to come." This was true, "you didn't even give me a chance to not say anything to Barbara" Rosalie said bitterly, Freddie laughed softly, " be honest, do you really think that you would have kept your mouth shut around Barbara?" Rosalie was quiet for a moment, "it depended on what she would say." I could almost here Freddie roll his eyes, "that's why you aren't here Betee, I can't risk you slipping up." Rosalie huffed and Freddie decided to change the subject, "have you been behaving for your mother?" Rosalie sighed slightly, "yes papa," Freddie hummed, "and will you continue to behave," this time Rosalie didn't even try to hide her sigh, "I already told you I would," she said harshly, "I just wanted to make sure Betee," it was quiet for a moment before Freddie spoke, "I miss you my darling," Rosalie's voice became exceedingly gentler, "I miss you too papa." I put the phone on the counter deciding I wasn't going to listen in on this anymore, I would give Freddie and our daughter some privacy. I went back to doing the kitchen hoping that these two weeks would be a good experience for us both.Rosalie P.O.V
"Papa I don't like this" I whined slightly putting my head in my hands, "I know my love," Freddie said gently, "but it's only for two weeks and then I'll be back, and you can have me all to yourself." I took a deep breath, he was right, like usual. It didn't stop it from hurting though. I heard some rustling on the other side of the phone and Freddie cleared his throat, "Betee I have to hang up now, but I love you more than anything, and I will call you tomorrow." My heart dropped, "papa no, I don't want to be done yet!" I whined kind of loudly. "Ssshhhh," Freddie said gently, "take a deep breath my darling, you're going to be okay, you have Mary with you." I scoffed, "oh because that makes everything better." I said sarcastically, placing my head in my hand, "hey," Freddie reprimanded, "do not speak about your mother that way." I rolled my eyes, "she doesn't act like my mother." I said quietly but Freddie caught it. "I mean it Rosalie, not a single bad word about her or I will wash your mouth out." I sighed annoyed, it pissed me off how protective Freddie was over Mary, "it's not your mother so why do you care." I said bitterly, he didn't get it. When Mary left us she still kept in contact with him, they were still friends, but she didn't keep in contact with me. I grew up with out a mother because Mary claimed she needed space, she didn't though, she just needed space from me. There was a huge difference. "I care Rosalie because I didn't raise a brat of a child, which is how you are acting by the way. If I hear from Mary that you said even one disrespectful thing then make no mistake you will be punished for it. Do I make myself clear?" I squeezed my fist so tight my knuckles were turning white. I guess I waited to long to respond because Freddie spoke up again. "Answer me." I rolled my eyes grateful that he couldn't see this action or he would not have been pleased. "Yes." I said grudgingly. "Good," Freddie said sounding slightly more satisfied. "Now, have a good night, go to bed on time and behave yourself, I will talk to you in the morning. I love you Betee" I ran a hand through my hair, "I love you too papa, I'll talk to you tomorrow." We said our goodbyes and with a heavy heart I hung up the phone. I stared at it for a moment before picking it up again and dialing a number. I listened to the ringing before Hyde's voice came on, "hello?" He asked, "Hyde it's me, you asked me to call earlier, sorry it took me so long." Hyde's voice instantly turned friendly, "Rosalie! Thanks for getting back to me man, so are you good to come tonight?" I looked around making sure no one was by me before saying, "not exactly but I'll be there anyway. Pick me up a block away from my moms," Hyde chuckled, "I'll be there at 11:00 sharp, don't be late." I smiled, "see you soon, bye" I hung up the phone and headed to my room, but not before taking Mary's only key to garden lodge, and slipping it into my pocket. I smiled, everything was coming together perfectly.I love you Freddie❤️
