Story 15 Another road trip

*6am*

Cleo was in the garden playing with the dogs while David and I took the rest of our bags out to the car. We were going on our first holiday together with Cleo, we decided a road trip to Cabo as then we would get a long time to chat and bond in the car. We took the bags down and put them in the boot of the car. We went through to the garden where Cleo was now playing fetch with the dogs. She looked up and smiled at us when she saw us coming.

Cleo: Hiiii

Jen: Heyy

David: It's time to go now honey

Cleo: Ok daddy

They walked inside and Jen picked up her handbag and Cleo picked up her  backpack filled with things for her to do on the long car ride. We went out the door and we locked it behind us. Courteney and Coco were going to look after the dogs for a couple of days while they were away but Court already had a key.

Jen: Shall I sit in the front with David or do you want me to sit in the back with you.

Cleo: You can sit with Daddy just now but later could you with with me.

Jen: Yeah sure 

Jen got in the front on the passenger side next to David in the drivers seat and Cleo got in the back in the middle seat. David turned the engine on and they were off.

*11am

Cleo: Daddy I know Jen is beautiful but you need to stop staring at her and concentrate on the road. That's the third time in the last hour you've almost driven into a street light.

Jen looked at David and chuckled, his face had gone red and he averted his eyes back to the road. They had been driving for about 2 hours now and he kept getting distracted.

Cleo: Oh and get your hand out of her dress. You might think I can't see you from back here but I can.

Again Jen laughed as David removed his hand from her leg and back to the steering wheel.

 He drove on for a little while longer until they came to a service station where they stopped for lunch. Cleo  and David got burgers and some Fanta and Jen got a sandwich with lettuce, cucumber, tomato and salami in it and some Fanta. They sat down and ate together Jen sat across from David and Cleo sat next to her. As they ate and chatted Jen and David had a foot fight under the table and Jen ended up winning because she accidentally kicked him a bit too hard and he hid his feet under his chair so her legs couldn't reach him. When they were finished their food they went to the toilet so they could set off again. They got back in the car but Jen sat in the back this time next to Cleo.

They chattered for a bit and then played hang man together while David sat in the front driving. Watching his two favourite girls get on so well and having so much fun made his heart swell with happiness.

*4pm*

After driving for about an hour he started to get tired but didn't complain. Jen noticed this though and offered to switch with him. He gladly accepted and they stopped at the next layby to swap seats. Now it was David's turn to sit in the back and have fun with Cleo. Jen watched David in the mirror playing happily with his daughter, thinking how lucky she was to have such an amazing boyfriend who is such an amazing father to this wonderful little girl. Jen drove for about 2 and a half hours until they reached a nice little cosy restaurant by the side of the road. Jen parked in a spot and they all walked inside. Cleo holding her Dads hand and Jen hanging on to his other arm. She had missed his touch and was happy to be able to hug him again after being split up in the car.
