House: Slytherin

Remus and I had gotten together during his final year at Hogwarts. I was in the year below him and it was fair to say that during my final year I missed him immensely. We tired out our owls with how much we wrote to each other, and when I finally graduated we decided to move in together almost straight away.

It was only a small flat but I didn't mind, as long as I was with him that was the main thing. I knew about his furry little problem and had even taken his friends advice of becoming an animagus, my form being a fox. We were happy together, and according to his friends Remus had never been as bright and bubbly as he was when he was with me. I got on with Remus' friends pretty well, all of them being kind. It took a while for Sirius to warm to me however, as according to Remus he didn't trust Slytherin's due to family issues. I didn't ask, but was glad he seemed to like me now.

I didn't know them massively well but they were all so kind to me when I met up with them which was regularly, especially as we were all involved in the Order of the Phoenix. Lily and James soon moved in together and were married, Lily then getting pregnant and giving birth to their first child.

Harry was adorable, and the more I played with him the more I wanted a baby myself. A part of me felt as though Remus might not want children given his furry little problem, but I knew he'd be a fantastic father if he just gave it a chance. I tried to hint at wanting a child by getting us both to play with Harry and saying things like 'he's so perfect' and 'he seems to love playing with us', but nothing seemed to be working.

That was when we got the bad news however. James and Lily had to go into hiding due to the fact You-Know-Who was after them. Remus entered a state of depression and I tried so hard to keep his spirits up by holding him tightly when we were in bed together and assuring him that they'd be okay. "I'm so thankful for you (y/n)," he whispered one evening as we cuddled in bed together, my head rested upon his naked chest.

"Hm?" I questioned this sudden statement, looking up at him.

"You've stayed by my side through thick and thin, you've always been there for me when I've been down. You know how to make me smile again when things seem dark," he whispered and I felt a smile come to my face. "I love you."

"I love you too Remus, never forget it," I whispered, kissing his chest before leaning up to meet his lips. It was merely a week later when we received the news we were dreading.

I answered the knocking at our door, surprised to see Dumbledore standing there somewhat solemnly. "Professor," I greeted him and he sent me a sad smile.

"(y/n)? Who is it- oh, Professor, what do we owe the pleasure?" Remus asked as he approached the door.

"I'm afraid it's not good news," Dumbledore said and my stomach twisted with nerves. "James and Lily... have been betrayed."

"W-what...?" Remus asked, a sense of horror in his tone.

"Sirius Black was their secret keeper. I'm afraid he revealed their location willingly to Lord Voldemort-,"

"NO!" Remus shouted, clutching onto his hair. I was having difficulty digesting this situation, Sirius seeming like the most loyal of people, that even showing through his animagus. He would never do such a thing... would he?

"I'm sorry to tell you this Remus, but James, Lily and Peter are dead," Dumbledore carried on and Remus fell to his knees.

"Remus!" I exclaimed, falling beside him and wrapping my arms around him.

"I apologise for being the bearer of such sad news," Dumbledore said simply and Remus remained silent. I too was feeling pain within me, but no doubt it was as bad as what Remus was going through. All of a sudden, in the course of a single night, he'd lost all of his best friends. I had to be there for him, now more than ever and I was going to show him I'd always be there.
