"Please (y/n)!" Sirius begged me for the millionth time for me to let him copy my potions homework.

"I told you no, Sirius! I'm not letting you take credit for my work," I huffed.

"You could tell Slughorn we worked on it together?" Sirius pleaded.

"Absolutely not," I said firmly, folding my arms for emphasis.

"Leave her alone Padfoot, why don't you do your own homework for once?" Remus suddenly piped up, coming to join us on the sofa in front of the fire.

"Because it's too hard! And (y/n)'s the best at potions in our year," Sirius sent me a wink which made me roll my eyes.

"We have our NEWTs coming up, you should at least be able to answer a few questions," Remus said and Sirius hid his head in his hands.

"I'm gonna fail!" He wailed loudly and I rolled my eyes.

"I will help you, maybe even tutor you but that's it! I'm not going to give you the answers on a plate," I said and Sirius went from wailing to cheering.

"Thanks (y/n), you're the best!" He said excitedly, running off to get his homework.

"You know that was probably his plan all along, to get you to tutor him," Remus said and I sighed.

"Probably, but if he is actually worried about the NEWTs then the least I could do is help him," I said but Remus remained straight faced, turning his attention to the book he was holding. Recently I had been trying to spend more time with the Marauders due to the growing feelings I had for Remus but he didn't seem interested in me at all. I'd tried to make direct conversation with him but we were always interrupted, and there were rarely situations when we were alone and I had a feeling he was avoiding me. Prior to my evolved feelings I may not've worried or even noticed, but now he held my attention more than he knew I was beginning to pick up on these subtle changes in behaviour. "Erm- Remus-,"

"Here we go!" Sirius managed to interrupt us yet again and I let out a huff.

"Come on then, it shouldn't take too long," I said, getting up and following Sirius to an empty desk on the other side of the common room. I quickly glanced back at Remus, surprised to see he was already looking over at me but as soon as we saw each other he turned back to his book.

- Remus' POV -

I tried to concentrate on 'Animal Farm' but I could barely read the sentences as irritation was consuming me. I couldn't stop myself from glancing over at Sirius and (y/n), the two of them laughing together despite them supposedly studying. I had no right to be jealous, after all she wasn't my girlfriend but Sirius knew I had feelings for her yet he didn't stop flirting with her.

I couldn't pinpoint the exact moment I realised I had feelings for (y/n), but it had been at least a year since the Marauders found out about them. All I wanted was the confidence to ask her on a date but it was impossible. "Hey Moony," James' voice snapped me from my thoughts as I saw him and Peter come through the portrait hole and head straight towards me.

"Hey," I said glumly, turning my attention back to my book.

"Why're you so down in the dumps?" He asked, collapsing next to me on the sofa. I looked over his shoulder towards (y/n) and Sirius again, James getting the hint and doing the same. "Oh..."

"Yeah, 'oh'. She has a crush on him," I had never said the fact aloud before and it hurt.

"You don't know that for sure," Peter said and I scoffed.
