House: Slytherin

Whilst in my fox form I ran about the Forbidden Forest, something I loved to do whenever my week became too stressful. I was a professor at Hogwarts, the first week of the new school year being both exciting and intense, but there was always a lot going on. I was the Care of Magical Creatures professor, meaning that the only students who took part in my subject were the ones who chose to do it, however there was the occasional foolish student who assumed this subject would be easy, and were now only realising just how much work needed to go into it.

There was another thing, or rather person, that clouded my thoughts as I trotted around the forest and that was Remus Lupin, the newly appointed Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. He was good looking to say the least, and even in the week he had been here he'd had a somewhat livening affect on some of the seventh years. He was kind, and every conversation we had had since he joined made me want to be in his company more and more.

In this first week alone he had made a great impression on everyone, the students talking excitedly about his classes and the professors, aside from Snape, were all complimenting his achievements. There was something about him however that made me curious to learn more about him.

As I was the Care of Magical Creatures professor, it was my job to know everything there was to know about all magical creatures, and the scratches on his face and hands were deep, having been made by something more than a Crup. I wanted to study them closer, but I felt as though staring at his face intensely whilst my mind thought of a possible cause would put him off, so I tried to be subtle but it wasn't really working.

I found myself thinking about the new professor a lot, which kept me distracted as I trotted around the forest for the majority of the evening, the only thing bringing me back to my senses being when I bumped into Firenze, the friendly centaur. When I was back at the castle in the early hours of the morning I headed straight to bed, but couldn't keep my mind off of the new professor.

- Timeskip -

Almost four months had passed since the beginning of the school year, and I thought I had figured out the mystery behind Remus Lupin. He and I had gotten very close over the months he had been here, and I had noticed that he often felt tired and sometimes looked ill, but whenever I asked if he was okay he'd insist he was fine. A couple of times he had to miss classes due to this state he was occasionally forced into.

One particular night when the full moon shone down upon me, I exited the castle and went to check on my augurey who was nesting in a thorn bush at the edge of the forest. Suddenly I heard the distinct cry of a werewolf causing me to freeze in my tracks. I had never heard a werewolf's cry around Hogwarts before, so was internally panicking. I could only pray that they who had turned had been taking the Wolfsbane potion. The day after that event however was a day in which Remus was missing from the staff breakfast table.

After that I asked Aurora for charts of the moons movements, subtlety avoiding her question as to why I needed them. When I had taken them back to my quarters I looked and noticed that it was around every full moon that Remus appeared to feel ill, and suddenly everything fell into place. An average student or professor wouldn't notice such a thing, especially given the fact that werewolves are incredibly rare, but being a specialist in magical creatures I could pick up on the subtle signs Remus gave off.

For example, he had his meat extremely rare to the point that it was almost blue. Not only that but towards the full moon of each month he became a little short tempered, and even looked as though he had aged a few years due to tiredness and fatigue, another subtle werewolf sign. Not only that but when I entered Pomona's personal greenhouse I spotted Wolfsbane being grown in a small tray, and when I questioned her about it she simply shrugged and said Dumbledore had told her to add it to the seventh years curriculum, but she did mention that Snape kept on coming to her to request for some. He had apparently told her it was for the wideye potion, but he was requesting more than usual. Pomona was quite careless though, so she wasn't really questioning Snape's request for the ingredient. This however confirmed my suspicions about Remus.
