Remus and I were making our way to the hospital, James having just phoned us from there telling us Lily had gone into labour. When we got there and to the right room, we entered to see Sirius there also, whilst Lily laid in the hospital bed holding a small baby in her arms. James stood beside her, tears of happiness streaming down his face.
"Lily!" I exclaimed, dashing towards her and seeing her beautiful baby boy.
"He's called Harry," she whispered, his bright green eyes opening and looking around at us all. Remus placed his hand around my waist, the two of us smiling brightly at the baby.
"He's sweet," Remus said, reaching out and brushing his fingertips against his cheek. Harry wriggled at the touch, and the more I looked at the baby boy the more I wanted one. Seeing Lily go through pregnancy made me want to experience it, although I hadn't yet told Remus. I wasn't sure whether he even wanted a child given his lycanthropy but even despite that, I knew he'd make an excellent father.
As I looked at him playing with the hours old Harry, my heart couldn't help but warm. "Can I hold him?" I asked tentatively and Lily nodded, showing me how to. When I had a tight grasp on the baby I couldn't stop smiling, wondering what it would be like if it was our own child.
"Sirius, we were wondering if... if you could be Harry's godfather?" James suddenly asked, the whole room looking towards a shocked Sirius. Tears came to his eyes as all he could do was nod, him suddenly tackling James into a hug. I knew the Potters had become Sirius' family, so I could only imagine his happiness.
"Aren't we one person short?" I realised a moment later.
"Huh?" James asked.
"Oh yeah, where's Peter?" Remus realised the fourth Marauder was nowhere to be seen.
"I couldn't get ahold of him... he's been quite distant lately, I hope he's okay," James said but we didn't spend long pondering as Harry began to cry, clearly wanting his mother so I passed him back to her, a smile never leaving my face.
We spent the remainder of the day with the Potters at the hospital before Lily was discharged, the three of them ready to head back to Godrics Hollow. Immediately Remus and I went shopping for a present for Harry, and as we were looking around the toy store I couldn't help but find all of the baby toys utterly adorable. "Remus, we have to get him this!" I held up a stuffed toy of a bunny.
"(y/n), we already have three stuffed toys for him," Remus laughed, taking it from me and putting it back on the shelf. "We should probably pay and leave before you end up buying the whole store."
I pouted but reluctantly agreed, us paying and then heading home to wrap the gifts ready for the Potters.

Time was going too fast. Harry had already grown so much, and could now stand although he needed assistance. We visited him often, and I adored playing with him. He seemed to recognise who I was, and would always love it when I playfully threw him in the air. He was a giggly baby who was spoilt by his father, and the more I played with him the more I wanted one. Seeing Remus play with him made my heart explode, and there were many times I almost blurted out to him the fact I wanted us to have a child but I tried my best to bite my tongue.
Remus and I had just gotten home after visiting the Potters for Harry's first birthday, Sirius having already bought him his first broomstick. We all spent the morning playing with Harry, Lily taking pictures with her camera. James was making sparkling outlines of animals using his wand, in particular stags, whilst Harry wore a headband with antlers on it. Seeing Harry's adorable smile, and seeing the party with all the fun toys made me want a baby of our own even more.
