Note: I am aware that the wolfsbane potion wasn't around whilst Remus was at Hogwarts, but for the purpose of this oneshot it was.
House: Hufflepuff
Like almost every evening, I was down at the Black Lake painting the same scene. Every evening I could I'd always sit in the same spot next to the lake and paint the same scene, the beauty of it having caught my attention. I found it fascinating, particularly as there were small yet distinct differences every evening whether that be the way the clouds had been formed, the way the wind blew the trees, the strength of the waves as they crashed against the stones or, it being the biggest change of the scene this evening, the shape of the moon.
It was like a pearl in the nights sky, it was shining so brightly. The reflection on the rippling water illuminated the area twice-fold, and it was quite hypnotic to watch. I gently brushed my paintbrush against the canvas, adding the brilliant pearl to the dark blue of the night.
Suddenly behind me I heard a small rustle, so I turned but I couldn't see anything through the thickness of the trees that led to the Forbidden Forest. I sat completely still and watched, when suddenly from out of the bushes jumped a small rabbit.
"Oh, you frightened me," I put my hand against my heart. The little bunny tilted it's head at me, before scarpering away at the speed of light. I watched it go, wondering what could've spooked it so much. I heard another rustle in the bushes and stood up off of the rock I was sitting upon, trying to make out any shapes within the darkness of the trees, however I definitely wasn't expecting to see what I saw.
A large beast jumped out of the bushes, and landed straight in front of me. Internally I had jumped out of my skin, but I simply stood still and watched it with wide eyes. It didn't take me long to realise that what was stood in front of me was a werewolf, in other words a MOM classified five beast.
I stood and stared, the beast seemingly doing the same to me. He was tall, incredibly so, yet hunched over and on all fours. He had thin fur over his dark grey skin and his claws were inches long on his spindly paws. There was however a sad look within his dark eyes, which still looked somewhat human.
I remembered Professor Slughorn telling the class about a new potion created in the past few years called the Wolfsbane potion, it claiming that if the werewolf were to take this before transformation, they'd keep their human brain. Nothing could prevent the transformation from happening, but this potion seemed to stop the human from having the mind of a blood-thirsty beast.
The more I looked into its chocolate brown eyes, the more I realised that what I was looking at was human. This made me smile as my heart rate and original fear calmed down, and I casually turned to get back to my painting. I could feel the eyes of the werewolf upon me as I sat, turning my attention back to my painting upon the easel.
The crunching of stones behind me told me that the beast was approaching, and I was still incredibly nervous as it was possible that despite the human look in its eye, whoever was underneath that skin might've not taken the wolfsbane potion meaning that I would now be its prey. Instead of attacking however, it came up beside me as though it was a normal dog. It sat beside me and watched me paint, me carrying on with the full moon.
We sat in blissful silence, me admittedly still trying to digest the situation I was in. The werewolf whimpered occasionally beside me, catching my attention. When I glanced towards it I saw it was already looking at me, it somehow looking happier. "Are you okay?" I asked, wondering if it would understand me. To my surprise it nodded and laid down beside me, watching me as I carried on painting.
