二十一 The greed for power and the sacrificial lambs

Away from the eyes of the common people is a masked man, his eyes were the only ones that could be seen in the deep night. As the chaos ensued from the river; the cries of the mothers who have lost their child and husband's lives; no more of the festivity that once gave birth to momentarily joy of the common mass.

It was at this celebration that the lives were taken away from them, just like the scholar who committed suicide after knowing of his country being conquered.

The red ribbons fluttered into the sky and one that fell to the river and was washed into the side of a man, quiet and rigid in his bones.

"Is it done?"

"It's already done, master"

He hums in response, eyes surveying the piece of wood that has been ransacked by the waves and the floating bodies being fished out by the yamen.

"Ensure that everyone who sees this prince will be killed" the shadows moved, blood poured out of the people that has once accompanied him for a drink and soon the wind blew a metallic twang into the abandoned tea house.

It was then that a day passed where the head of the envoy went to the imperial hall and yelled out their tribe's grievance.

"Your majesty! This lowly one is asking for justice for our poor, innocent princess!"

The main imperial hall where dozens of ministers compiled out of their rules and suggestions to the emperor heard out a man's guttural cry outside.

The Mongolian tribe that once reigned into the dessert lands has now been in an alliance by the Fu dynasty. It was this alliance that was made to their precious princess that was loved by their king who is now promised to the second prince.

The Mongolian's valued strength and the second prince matched what they wanted; in just a month after the alliance has been fully recognized by the court, the news wasn't still conveyed to the common people as the imperial family waited for the Mongolians to come and sign the alliance.

Now that the alliance has been met with an accident and a death; it was no longer possible.

The emperor above them wore a black expression, there was nothing for the courtiers to pick on and only the head eunuch that the Emperor has been in contact with for almost all of his life knew the anger suppressed in the dragon's body.

"Open the doors" the emperor ordered and the eunuchs abide, the head envoy cried out to the emperor once again.

"Your majesty, we have suffered an injustice! The princess of our tribe has been killed!" He bowed there, weeping as if it was his daughter and nothing but a chess piece for this alliance.

"The princess is dead?"

"What would happen to the alliance?"

"Will there be another princess to come?"

'Is it even an accident?' No one asked the question they have in their minds, at this point, it was clear that no one wanted the alliance to happen.

It was also known that the Second Prince, Fu Jun Zhong, hated the Mongolians and frown upon the talk of an alliance with their tribe. His hatred was due to the fact that his soldiers has suffered a lot from the Mongolians and vice versa; war to the Mongolians is pertinent to his name.

"Your highness needs no worry, the emperor is partial. This official will stand by your highness side" Master Sima swore, one that has also had an inkling of hatred towards the Mongolians that rushed to conquer their lands but was beaten back by them Hans.
