五十二 A storm brewing in both worlds

Dissatisfaction ran rampant in the court even without expressing it, the fourth prince was heavily favored by the Emperor as the narrow-minded court officials think. A mind is so narrow and shallow they wouldn't understand the Emperor's mind, they prided themselves to be a great official whose mind has been crafted for years yet still fail to see the bigger picture.

"The Emperor kills three birds with one stone, even with constant descending of rain and dew his mind is still intact" the main reason for the official's discontent, fourth prince Fu Jun Fen states.

The calligraphy brush on his hand moves like fluid water, without waves in his eyes the blank paper represented his inner mind. Simple at first but when one is forced on the corner, one would show their inner demons and only by constant practice of self-preservation of little humanity left on him will he be able to release himself from his demons.

"Your highness, Minister Tu has taken evidence of Concubine Yuan's poisoning to the late mistress. The female nurse that managed to escape was taken in the underground tunnel; it was said that her tongue was pulled out and her whole body suffered from the fire" Eunuch Sun relayed the information that the fourth prince has been investigating the moment Fu Jun Fen heard of the mocking voices of the eunuchs that were designated to serve him.

How could Eunuch Sun not catch the hatred that flashed in the fourth prince's eyes before it fades? Sighing, Eunuch Sun can only pray for the heavens for the fourth prince to survive this ordeal.

Fu Jun Fen has not much feelings for his biological mother except for protecting him in her womb until the day she died, he was still appointed to her trusted servants.

Taking revenge for her injustice is a must, second to that is the injustice that he has experienced in the palace as a child.

'I will never forget'

It was his mantra for all these years, every near-death experience he suffered in the hands of those maids and eunuchs, the contempt and disgust that the royal family gave to him just because of a prediction.

He will never forget.

"Let her confess, do anything to make her do that" He orders before continuing to write.

...

"Shu estate"

Meng Jia Yi read out loud, she was invited to a tea party towards the Shu estate; it has been a month since she has captured half of the servants in the middle-class level and a week ago on the lower class servants.

Managing an estate is exhausting what's more she has to keep up appearances; the worst part is she has to accept the favor from her husband and serve him as if he was a lord.

"Reply to them that we would gladly accept," she says before burrowing her head to the map of the southern part of the continent.

Meng Jia Yi has been crazily spending all her free time memorizing maps and engaging in business; once she and hopefully her mother and younger brother A'Rui leave the capital they would start a business together.

Night soon descended, the candlewick faded away and the two busy figures have finally ended their business.

"My wangfei... is truly sweet" she was kissed to her nape before nipping at her collarbone.

"Jun Bei! I'm so tired~" she coquettishly complained before hammering her fist to his back. In her head, she wishes to hammer her fist to his face.

With a deep rumble of laughter, he extracted himself out of the sheets and rolled out his inner robe.

"Sleep" he kisses her forehead gently.

Eyelids tightly close, the figure of the man that seems to be intoxicated in his lover's arms calmly walked away and entered his office; not a shadow has been seen by the maids and male servants.

The sleeping Meng Jia Yi woke up, her eyes no longer shrouded in drowsiness as she sat up from the bed. The marks left on her body disgusts her but unlike the first week, they didn't rub her skin till it bleeds and calmly called for XiXi's services.

After cleaning herself up, she contemplated for a while; it has been a month since her marriage and one thing that stuck in her head is the fact that he, Fu Jun Bei, will not trust anyone.

Even the person that was close to him, the most intimate to his and even his blood. He will not trust, perhaps that was the case for her before but she fell into her long-buried desire for a loving mother figure.

"Fu Jun Bei, you must not be the Emperor" she whispers to the wind, no voice left her lips for the walls are always listening.

It was dawn and she has woken up to start for another day, fortunately, she has no mother-in-law or she would've been hacked to death for waking up this late. Just serving Fu Jun Bei was enough for her to start her anger what more if there was a mother-in-law, she would've lost her rationale.

Naturally, the days passed until it was the day for the tea party at the Shu estate. XiXi put the emerald skirt paired with a white magnolia sleeve; her face was bare with only the festive red on her lips and tassels hung upon her hair like droplets of waterfall freely falling on her supple, black hair.

"Madam is too beautiful one might mistake her for a fairy!"

"A forest elf, Madam's beauty was like that of a forest elf!"

"Spring has descended and so is Madam!"

Countless praises fell on her, she only smiled bashfully knowing it was because she was heavily favored by their master. Chun Tao and Chun Ling, her dowry maids, helped her to the carriage and they were soon set away into the Shu estate.

Facing the majestic atmosphere that has built myriad of Noble Concubines and Empress in the past, Meng Jia Yi felt like stepping into the wolf's den.

But she can only stride forward, never back down for you still have the status of being the legal wife of the third prince.

"Greetings to Qinwang fei"

Noble ladies bowed their heads against her, the ones that usually ignore or despise her existence have now become like one of her subordinates that has to bow down and curry favor to her.

"You may all rise" She didn't let that fact ruin her plan on escaping.

Once greed corroded your system, you can only greed for more and never go back.

The noble ladies, acquaintance or not, has never left her table and the topics on their mouth seem to never end; it was then that the host of the tea party arrived.

As to what the people say, Shu Aifen is indeed a beauty that could cause a thousand ships to sail for warlike Helen.

But it seems like this great beauty didn't seem so beautiful after all.
