六十五 Madness and recklessness; A new Meng Jia Yi
Meng Jia Yi has one thing in her mind and that is to escape, but how can she do that when they're in the middle of the sea? There's also the possibility that she couldn't sail back to the capital and lose her family.
"Brother, do you have any water?"
"No" her voice hoarse from not speaking too much.
The kid in tattered clothing left and asked another person, he was then kicked to another area and was soon limping.
No one dared to take their food out in the open, several people have already lost their minds and eaten their remaining food. Some looted out and allied themselves to the scarred man, others climb all over the weak elderlies and women.
Meng Jia Yi watched those unfold as the civil people became savages once they run out to the wild; as they say a monkey will become the leader once the tiger left the mountain. She only has enough for herself but she also faced risks and so she couldn't take out anything for it will raise awareness for those with keen senses.
"Let's go and take the captain! We will be the king of this ship!" The scarred man was also greedy for the ship's resources; he has the people on his side and will act as his neat shield while he maintained his status quo of being a leader.
"We will be the king's people!"
"We will be the king's people!"
The united people repeated, those with numb expressions just continually waiting for death to knock on them as she finally decided to become a part of them.
This ship will not sail back to the capital and the only way to do that is to get the scarred man to lead his 'army' back to the capital.
"Oh, another recruit!" A man yelled to their companions. "He said he wanted to meet our leader"
"Ha! This kid is funny!"
"Meeting out leader? Who are you, a prince?"
Mocked laughter filled her ears but she remained neutral, watching as their laughter fades away before a bald man came out.
"What do you want to say to our leader?" This bald man was a con artist, he was known to be the right arm of the scarred man who they treat as a leader.
"We must go back to the capital after taking rule of this ship"
Her words startled the bald man and those that laughed at her grew even more, their eyes were blatantly telling her that she was a fool and should not spout nonsense.
"Spitting dog shit! Do you want us to die?" Another muscular man rushed in, took her collar, and threatened her.
She remained passive without a look of fear and this matter easily managed to get the attention of their leader.
Just like she wanted.
"Lead him here," the scarred man says, his eyes glinting dangerously.
Meng Jia Yi patted her collar that was crumpled by the muscular man ignoring his piercing disgusted eyes. The crowd parted, it was nothing new for the beggars that were yet to defect to the gang but the confident and fearless movements of Meng Jia Yi were a thing they have never seen before.
"Tell me then kid, why should I go back to the capital?" Those eyes leered dangerously to her face, criticizing every part of her movements and words. "What? You can't speak now?"
The people below him jeered at her as a constant round of horrible words were hurled at her, she didn't move a single inch. This time, the scarred face leader leaned in on his seat and cocked his brows at her.
"The capital is in a state of emergency and the riches of the nobles must have been scattered along the way. Why not take the chance to get those resources to build a much stronger and larger power?"
It was then that even the bald, con-man and the muscular man's eyes shone with greediness, it was a chance to take over the other world and preserve much of their power by taking the riches and slaves of the ruined capital. Don't think that they don't know what this kid was thinking about wanting to go back but whatever it is, those resources must be attained.
"Do you think it's that easy?" The leader asked, the knife in his hand was stained with blood. "The capital is not something we could take on ourselves"
"It is indeed hard but..." Meng Jia Yi looked at the man and the corner of her lips lifted. "As the leader, wouldn't you be strong enough to at least gather a force that could deal with one nobleman?"
It was a slap in his face if he didn't agree with her words; constantly telling the people on this ship that he is the strongest and he will build a land free of the constraints of slavery. That is why some of the beggars and slaves that fled defected to his side.
One can lose a man but not a battle formation.
"Heh! Are you provoking me?"
"I am not, I am just simply giving out the options to improve the organization that I am going to be in"
The two were in a deadlock, no one knew what was going on in their heads and waited for the leader to kill the presumptuous boy but he remained sitting above, suppressing the boy with his murderous glance.
"Alright, return the ship"
This statement caused backlash to other beggars that risked their lives and were almost on the brink of death to leave the capital.
"Silence! This ship will soon be taken by ours, those that refuse will be killed!" His threats did work its wonder and those with grievous eyes looked at Meng Jia Yi in anger, their stare was too much for anyone but not for her.
She has already stepped into this murky land and has no option left.
Soon, all of those with higher status in the organization went into a meeting; a makeshift room was made by allocating clothes of the deceased further frightening the people below.
"The ship is not easy to be overtaken!"
"We don't have much manpower!"
Others suppress the thought of going back to the capital, even though they were greedy of what the boy informed they were cautious of their hard-earned life.
"This is a great opportunity to make a comeback for our organization!"
"That wealth will be plundered by other people, why can't we?!"
"Our leader is a supreme lord! He can take over this ship!"
Constant devotees of the scarred man fought back, it wasn't easy for them to be seen as powerful people. It was only because they were bathed in the reputation of their leader. They do not want to go back to become one of those beggars that would be killed by a nobleman's order; no more a slave that has to lower their selves down like a dog to their master.
In the end, the leader of the organization issued a command on taking over this ship and by the time they have the person commanding the ship— they will set sail back to the capital.
Notes:
• monkey will become the leader once the tiger left the mountain.
• Climb all over somebody means fig. to take advantage of somebody's weakness.
• One can lose a man but not a battle formation is a Chinese idiom which means that no matter how lacking one is, one must do his/her best and not let others belittle him/her

Meng Jia Yi is a cunning woman she just never had the chance to show it and now that she is free of Fu Jun Bei and is madly trying to go back to the capital to rescue her family— it was down to see how resourceful and mad she is.
