三十三 Mongol princess and the marriage request of the third prince
For a whole month, Meng Jia Yi busied herself off of her story and has now finished the first volume of her story. Her hands crackled and her back felt sore but it was a good pain, something so familiar that she has almost forgotten making her slightly panicked.
This is why she has also written her life— even if it was a poor life that she has lived in the past twenty-three years; she wanted to remember the good and the bad, the regrets and little hints of happiness that were encompassed in her short life.
"Miss, the Emperor is holding a banquet for one of the princesses in the Mongol tribe" XiXi informed her as her ink slightly dyes the quarter of the paper.
"I see"
She was still slightly afraid of the third prince's scheme, hundreds of thoughts run through her mind the past weeks and it only dwindled when there was no news of his presence.
Now, it came up again, raging and roaring proudly against the beating of her heart.
"Miss, are you alright? You've gone pale, it is because of..." XiXi didn't finish her words but she can hear the innovation around it.
"I'm fine, just a bit... shocked, I guess" she simply smiled and continued writing.
Meng Jia Yi couldn't take away the fear in her heart, the third prince was just too involved in her life for her liking and she didn't know when it started.
Perhaps knowing that her marriage is just months away would make him stay far away from her. She hopes.
...
The palace grandeur never ceased to amaze her but it has now lacked its luster and curiosity from her; they glide through numerous hallways until they reach the main hall where the dozens of officials with their wives and offspring's watching every visitor from the gates.
The Meng clan was seated just ten seats away from the higher officials and part of the imperial family; Meng Just Rou excused his first daughter as she was learning her lesson after being too reckless and childish.
"The prime minister is indeed satisfactory in his way of educating his child, they say spare the rod and spoil the child— it must not have been applied to your estate" one of his official friends commented.
"That is right, it was especially true to our males" he was even proud, she scoffed inside.
Meng Jia Dong was a serious nut job when he goes out with his 'friends' from what she has collected before. Meng Jia Yu on the other hand was a viper that would sneak on you and trample down after you are down— she could see the tinge of superiority in his eyes no matter how gentle he portrays himself to be.
"Do not embarrass our clan" Madam Sima held the threat but we could feel it. She has become a bomb with her ever-changing mood, it feels like the shame of her daughter's deed went up to her head.
"Yes mother" the two of us said, it felt bitter and vile in her lips.
Soon the Emperor came up along with his Empress holding his arms after the eunuch announced their arrival. The courtiers lowered themselves down and greeted them as the vigorous music faded into the distance.
"Rise" the emperor said and everyone stood up and went back to their seats. "Let the music continue" as soon as his word ended the music continued its lively pace.
As the music rang aloud behind the background several palace servants with trays of foods in their hands came up and handed out the exquisite dishes that only those in the imperial family have the privilege to eat.
