A fire broke out in one of the mausoleums of the late Emperors— mostly the Late Emperor Wushuan who reigned and established the Han dynasty after being beaten by the Turks and the Mongols. It was at this moment that a prophecy made by fortune tellers in the street and even the divination of a famed monk responded in the capital and all of the Han provinces.
"A nobleman will land and make the country prosper but only if the blood is spilled!"
The Mongols took over provinces.
The assassination of the Emperor.
The death of Princess Mahide.
Those same words brought back chills as well as expectations from different Han officials; it was once a prophecy from the late fourth prince who was once banished to the cold palace. It was as if fate was guiding them to the prophecy, towards the impending spillage of terror and death and for the nobleman to appear after.
"But the fourth prince was already dead three years ago!"
"No one knew if his highness was truly dead!"
"Will there be a rebellion soon?"
Everyone had mixed reactions, they seemed to foresee the bloody trail that would arrive in the capital and soon thereafter, the wind in the capital was changing. Everyone knew that making the country prosper was what every person wanted to achieve and a godsend prophecy like that made the people in awe.
Inside the magnificent palace, palace maids and eunuchs dare not breathe too loudly for fear of angering their masters. All of them had been living in the palace walls for years and were naturally capable of gauging their master's emotions.
Even Fu Jun Bei, the emperor, heard of the prophecy and knew that someone was messing with his plan.
A prophecy that once made the fourth prince banished in the cold palace and now that same prophecy was used to dismantle his reign?
"How laughable" A grin was plastered on the Emperor's face yet no smile could be seen in his eyes. "Anyone who speaks and spreads this rubbish rumor will be given death punishment" he orders.
His blood was still boiling in anger, no, he can't go on like this. A rebellion was it that easy to rebel then?
"Call Minister Tu Yi Guan"
In a while, a eunuch ran out to spread the news of the forbidden rumor and another called for the Minister of Justice. Immediately, steps resounded from the royal hall and Minister Tu Yi Guan greeted the emperor.
"Rise, Zhen’s minister"
"Thanking the Emperor's grace" he stood up, Fu Jun Bei neither smiled nor showed any anger on his face.
"Zhen expects to have an answer on the matter of the Late Emperor Wushuan, Minister Tu. Zhen naturally hopes to find the mastermind behind the scenes and the royal guards and Dali Temple would mobilize the capital to find any links that dare spread rumors that threaten to smear the imperial family!"
This was an order and an order that needed to be solved in a week. Tu Yi Guan accepted the decree and left. In the end, the capital was soon marching with soldiers and anyone who spread rumors of the prophecy would be given capital punishment.
...
General Bilguun walked towards the residence of Prince Arban, the impending decision of rebellion still hung up in his mind. There was no other way but to move forward. If not, they would be stuck here, hiding like ants waiting to be crushed.
"Your Highness"
"General"
Prince Arban was a young man with high ambitions, igniting his passion for making the country prosper through rebellion will only lead him, the General, to agree.
Shortly after no more servants were lingering in the main hall but just the two of them. As he explains the plan made by the two generals and the fourth prince of Han, he manages to see the willingness in Prince Arban's eyes.
"We have to fight, I would either die fighting or live in victory" he solemnly stated, General Bilguun has difficult feelings towards this young prince he saw grew up under his lead.
"But we cannot completely trust in the other party-"
"General, I am also of Han descent" his tone hurt, attacked by the meaning behind the General's words.
Prince Arban knew that he was discriminated against by his people; the Mongolian King and his biological father only see him as a unique byproduct of his seed; his half siblings see him as an abomination for being half of a Han descent. Even General Bilguun, who treated him as much like his son, still has some preconceived assumptions towards him.
"This is a chance given to me, an abomination-" he was stopped by an enraged General Bilguun which means that he was still that father-like figure that looked after him.
"You are not your highness! Who dares smear your royalty?! Are the servants blind and deaf?!"
"It is a title that has followed me all my life and I wish to change that— King, that is what I wanted to exchange for"
His ambitious self was now heavily surfacing and he made no effort on suppressing it from the General. The fourth prince of Han, they have already made a deal, to be each of the Kings of their nation and make it thrive from the aftermath of war and contradictions.
General Bilguun could see the determination in the young prince's eyes and soon sighed in relief. He is indeed too narrow minded and has not considered a long term plan. In the battle between the two half brothers, the two have an equal chance and footing.
If they win, they would be the victors and get the highest status in the grassland. They would not be feared but welcomed by those in the central plains. The advantage outweighs the disadvantages and at this point, their decision is clear.
"This general will manage the soldiers and prepare for war"
...
Meng Jia Yi received another note, the money that has been squandered down for foods directed to the barracks and the making of weapons are now about to emerge to the outside world.
"Miss, the streets were filled with these"
CiXi came up to her side and put a blood note with a sentence; the famed prophecy circulating in the capital.
A nobleman will land and make the country prosper but only if the blood is spilled!
"Should we leave this place miss? But where would we go? We are only weak women, we would be easily bullied outside" CiXi worriedly asks, the past days she has seen CiXi planning for their escape route and the belongings that they would take.
It wasn't a bizarre thing but a normal occurrence today; the higher ranks have even dealt with the jeweries and paintings in their hands and exchanged it for silver notes; the head of this brothel house was rumored to be traveling to the south. Numerous shops were closed, some of the wealthy families have already fled to warless provinces and those who are unfortunate have their homes closed down.
"We will naturally plan for ourselves, don't worry, we have the guards that the two young masters have placed on me. They will ensure our safety as we go to a safe place"
"That is great miss! But where should we go?" CiXi was dumbfounded after the happiness, there is not much place to go into now.
"To the capital"
