四十八 Her and the royal palace
Meng Jia Yi knew that going to the palace was not an easy task, leaving it was even more tricky and seeing the contempt, mocking, and scorn of these people with such noble status than hers— she wanted to tell them to shut the fuck up.
They are just royals that were predetermined with blood causing wars and living luxury ignoring the pleading of the common people. Nothing but parasites that suck the nation's workers.
"Ji'an"
The Empress is the mother of all children of the Emperor, biological or not. Unfortunately, she was barren, but it was also a blessing in disguise for she wouldn't have weaknesses and a double-edged sword because no one could support her from old age.
Nevertheless, Weng Shu Ren managed to occupy the seat by cutting her maternal family's power and showing her obedience and loyalty towards the Emperor. No favor and child but she still retain her seat as the Empress, such is the reward that the Emperor brought to her.
Princess Ji'an was born from a wealthy concubine with her maternal family coming from the one who handles the royal treasury. Prideful and condescending tone can be heard from her question which didn't bother her but only those who were of lower birth.
"My eighth sister must have been listening too much to the rumors of the market" Fu Jun Bei looked at the now surging hostility towards Meng Jia Yi.
"The eighth princess must be jesting, she is just a child, your highness. They are vulnerable to such rumors and have not yet approached sinister rumors" Meng Jia Yi softly approached Fu Jun Bei, her words were all of an elder being understanding towards her junior.
"You-"
"Enough, Ji'an" The Empress pressed the anger that was about to pierce Meng Jia Yi and soon, the eight princesses left.
The Emperor just left after accepting the tea from his new daughter-in-law and stayed for almost half an incense; it was indeed enough face for the third prince since the Emperor was occupied with his royal duties.
With the Emperor's longer presence, it has stabbed the first and second prince in their hearts. The first prince was already married but it was only for a short while after the Emperor left, with that thought in mind everyone looked at the newly married couple with complicated gazes.
"Congratulations to third brother for his successful marriage" the first prince, Fu Jun Long congratulated, his words seem like it was genuine and all but behind those incomprehensible eyes laid extreme jealousy.
Fu Jun Long no longer restrained his displeasure towards his opponents, no longer the elder brother that is both filial and rule-abiding. He chose to show the cruelty and desire for the throne to his brothers without care after having almost half of his power inside the court.
"Thanking Elder brother!" Fu Jun Bei drank the cup offered to him by his brother and smiled.
Still graceful with his movements but she could still feel the beast coming out of him every time he sees the emperor's seat.
It was not long after that the Empress excused herself and left the palace halls, the royal male siblings gathered together but she didn't see a shadow of the Fourth prince.
"I'll be with you soon" her head was gently covered by a male's hand, her husband, Fu Jun Bei.
"Yes, husband" she can only release that greasy, endearment of his and leave the halls.
Women, even in their noblest status, are still treated with such low respect and can only go to the imperial garden for the men to talk about their business.
