Celebrations of firecrackers rang from all around the capital as the envoy of Princess Mahide, a Princess from the Mongolian tribe would be wed as the new concubine of the Han Emperor. Their marriage would piece back the turmoil that has been happening on the borders of the Han empire and Mongolian kingdom. Commoners alike were besieged with happiness seeing the enormous carriage with strong, tall horses and fierce warriors of the Mongolian tribe— it means that the Mongols and the Hans have reached another peace treaty and they won't suffer anymore.
Due to the fermentation of the news of Princess Mahide's wedding to their Emperor, even those who have been dissatisfied with what the Emperor did in the past years has began to look forward to the new change. At least they could get 10 to 20 years of peace in the union of two nations.
Moreover, dozens of carriages carrying betrothal gifts could be seen parading to the streets of the capital and into the gates of the palace.
"Your majesty, everything has been prepared. The Noble Imperial Concubine that was assigned for the wedding has finally reached the result your majesty ordered"
Empress Shu Aifen watched the banquet that once held her wedding with the then third prince Fu Jun Bei now being used to wed another woman. To say that her heart was not bedridden in disappointment and resentment would be the lie of the century, but what can she do? She is the Empress, the mother of the nation and a woman free of the lowly desires that common women feels.
The Emperor cannot be with only one woman.
"Tomorrow....would be a new change" she spoke out, looking far from the sky as if she knew the things that should not be be known.
Tomorrow would indeed be a new beginning after the famine and war that threatens to soil the power of the imperial family.
...
The wedding sedan transported the bride, Princess Mahide was followed by dozens of Mongolian warriors and maids dressed in luxurious red and golden stitches. Officials from both nations stood ceremoniously as they watched the union of both lands for peace. A grand and joyful wedding parade symbolizes the peace that everyone wanted and so the wedding was more outstanding than before giving face to the Mongolian kingdom.
Firecrackers, bridal chambers and scattering flower petals welcomes the bride from the groom's family. The Empress accepted the tea prepared by Princess Mahide and gifting her a precious Buddhist bracelet that has been with her for years.
"Little sister should take this, this empress wishes a peaceful reign with little sister"
"Thanking the Empress"
Such sharp, sensual features combined with extremely lean and strong bearing. Shu Aifen knew that some girls from the Mongolian tribe are relatively strong and are known for their wild ways of living, surely this Princess Mahide will not be favored heavily by his majesty.
One can never be sure, the princess' allure is her freshness and the unique features that a gentle and almost pure Han woman can never achieve. Fortunately, she will never have to raise her guard against her.
"His majesty and Princess Manhude brought out the best in each other! They are truly a good couple!"
"Our Princess Mahide is a beauty that can be compared to our deities!"
"The heavens have decided to let our two nation be at peace, it was Princess Mahide that brought stability in our lands!"
Shu Aifen's lips never ceased to frown, it was a smile that was used for the public. She then asked for the maids to prepare all the food and drinks that would be presented to the guests.
Fu Jun Bei was satisfied at the recent scenes today and raises his cup along with Princess Mahide as they will drink it in front of the people to show their harmony.
"Zhen is grateful to have you all witness the alliance of us two nations and today, behold the heavens have given their blessing for our two lands to prosper and unite!"
Sounds of congratulatory words rang, some officers drank the whole wine, some drank more of it and the others couldn't such as the queen.
Everyone was still celebrating when the smiling Princess Mahide suddenly retch in blood, the red wedding dress tainted with her dark, heavy blood. The moment Princess Mahide fainted the Emperor stood up to call for the imperial doctors when he too spit out blood and fell on his throne.
"Protect the Emperor!"
"Get the Imperial doctor!"
"Secure the palace!"
There was a massive riot under the throne, several Han officials followed by Mongolian envoys panicked seeing the Emperor and Princess Mahide vomit out blood. It was even more of a casualty when some Mongolian ambassadors and Han officials fell to the ground, spitting up blood with a deathly white face.
The imperial doctors were surrounded, pulled, and taken to the wounded; some of the higher imperial doctors were taken to save the emperor and Princess Mahide leaving the mess below them.
The hearts of the imperial doctors left behind came out of their throats as they see the life fading out from some of the officials from the two nations. Voices trembling as they had to speak out about the reason and result of their examination of the high officials."This lowly one h-has done his best-" he was interrupted with a sword on his neck.
The death of these officials has made them bare their fangs and brandish their claws. No one knew who was the murderer, no one knew who would be killed soon and no one knew who would be spared.
"No! Minister Wang is not dead! Save him or I'll kill you!"
"Save our people first! It was your incompetence that killed our people!" One of the Mongolian warriors harshly spoke out.
In just a span of minutes, dozens of officials were on the bridge of death, the others were unfortunate as they were also being scrutinized by all. No one was trusting anyone and even the imperial doctors were being observed from behind.
Empress Shu Aifen was diagnosed by the doctors after she fainted from fright and soon, every Han officials stood by to protect her.
"Protect her highness! The Empress has the dragon seed!"
Notes:
• Brought out the best in each other means to complement one another well
• Baring fangs and brandishing claws means to make threatening gestures
• The red worn by the bride and groom symbolized good fortune.
• Dragon seed means the emperor's offspring.****
Still not sure when to update again and yeah, I might have 80% chance that I could not finish this story. Also, I will be joining a new company, hopefully, it's just that my new company is now too strict of their employees that I feel too shackled.
Got to go now, sweet dreams and smiles!
Enjoy!
