"See you soon cupcake." Ari muttered quietly, leaning down to press a soft kiss to my lips. "Yeah, don't get shot at." I smiled against his lips, stepping back before turning to look at Sammy. "Rachel will kill me if you're not back in one piece, so make sure you keep Ari in line." I smiled, watching as he shook his head. "That's a lot to ask." Sammy chuckled, slinging his arm around my shoulders as Ari laughed. "I don't need a babysitter." He teased, pinching my cheek playfully while I giggled. "Keep telling yourself that big guy." I smiled, patting his chest before stepping away from both men. "Be back soon?" I questioned, waving at Jake and Max before starting to walk back to the resort. "Yeah, as soon as possible." Ari called, climbing into the truck before taking off.
I nodded at the staff when I walked through the building, excusing them for the evening before I approached Rachel's room, pushing the door open. "Your bestie is here!" I laughed, seeing her smile as she looked at me. "You've been back for two days and I already miss when things were quiet." She teased, tossing me a radio to set while I laughed, sitting down on the red chair in the corner of the room, messing with the dials hearing Barak's voice pop through, stopping the search for the right station. "Corporate to base, do you copy?" Barak spoke into the microphone, a soft sigh leaving my lips. "Base to Corporate, hear you loud and clear." I replied, seeing Rachel smirk, settling onto the bed, looking over at me. "Eta for small boats if 5 minutes, be prepared." Barak stated, while I nodded, standing up to go help direct the boats. "You gonna come?" I asked, looking at Rachel while her eyes lit up. "You mean it?" She asked, springing to her feet while I smiled. "Of course."
The men had loaded up the people, heading back towards the resort unaware of the tail they had picked up. "You give her the new ring yet?" Sammy asked, holding onto the handle when they hit a bump. "Not yet, things got carried away last night and it didn't feel right." Ari replied, the static from the radio breaking through with the sound of Jake's voice. "Yacht 1, do you copy?" Jake asked, his eyes on the mirror outside his door, seeing the silhouette of a truck following them. Sammy picked up the radio nodding at Ari before clicking the button, "Yacht 1 to Yacht 2, reading clearly, what seems to be the issue?" Sammy asked, groaning as Ari hit another bump. "We seem to have an unidentified vehicle following us." Jake explained, hearing radio static before Ari's voice broke through. "I'm sure it's nothing, we're almost back."
Rachel and I were standing with the soldiers, waiting for the trucks to arrive. "How much longer you guys plan on staying here?" The soldier asked, looking to Rachel and I as we both let a small smile crawl along our lips. "Until the mission is done." Rachel responded, looking to the horizon in search of headlights. "You guys are truly dedicated to the cause, I can't say that I would want to be here for a long period of time." The soldier said while I nodded, looking over at him. "You joined to protect your country right?" I asked, the man nodding as he turned to me. "We joined to protect the people who need it, different jobs, same mission." I replied, seeing him smile gently. "Must make you feel whole." He chuckled, seeing the trucks on the horizon.
Rachel and I quickly ran up, helping to offload the people in the back, guiding them from the trucks to the soldiers who quickly and quietly lead them down to the beach. "Addi, a word." Max and Jake pleaded, approaching me quickly. "What's up, can it wait?" I asked, smiling at a little girl as I lifted her out of the truck, directing her to the soldier standing by a rock. "No, I saw a truck following us, Ari says not to worry, but-" Jake stated, being cut off by me, "Max, a gun and a radio on that rock, call out everything." I commanded, watching him nod before rushing off. "This could get ugly real fast if it's the military." I stated, taking the hand of a little boy who was scared to approach the soldier, leading him down to the boats with Jake following me closely. "I know it could, that's way we talked to you."
"Add-" Max called, before bullets started to ran down on the beach, Jake's hand wrapping around mine and Rachels arm to pull us behind a rock. "Go! Get the rest of those people on a boat!" I yelled, seeing Jake and Rachel take off, quickly loading up people and pushing them into the water while I mimicked their actions, the bullets never seemed to stop, skimming the sides of my body and making the sand jump up. Sammy was tending to a wounded soldier while Ari and I pushed the last boat into the water. Ari rushed over to help Sammy lift the soldier into the boat, while Jake pulled Rachel and I behind a rock, both of us curling into his sides while he held our heads with his hands, looking at Ari and Sammy nodding.
Ari and Sammy were getting arrest while Rachel, Max, Jake, and I looked on helpless, tears rolling down my cheeks as Ari looked over at me sadly, mouthing that he loved me before the men drug him away. When the coast was clear we all climbed out from our hiding spots, standing in a circle in the middle of the bullet littered beach. "What do we do?" Max asked, tugging his coat around himself tightly, looking at me. "I don't know." I replied, taking Rachels hand when she reached out for mine. "We do this together, that's how." She replied, looking at Max and Jake who took our free hands. "We're a team, we made a promise to have each others backs no matter what." Jake added while I smiled gently, laying my head on his shoulder. "Rachel, we go see Madibo in the morning, maybe we can get him to get Ari and Sammy out of jail." I stated seeing her nod. "Max, Jake, they know something is going on, we need to track down Kabede and make sure he's not in danger." I stated, seeing both men nod. "Let's get to work team."
Sammy and Ari were pacing around the jail cell, irritation flowing freely off the doctor. "Have you ever thought about the dangers Ari?" Sammy asked, chewing on his inner cheek when the man looked at him. "What?" Ari asked, cocking an eyebrow at him. "Being your friend, your sweet talk didn't get us out of this one. Have you ever thought about Addi, or Rachel, or Max-" Sammy listed, seeing Ari tense up. "Sammy stop it, you're gonna put them in danger!" Ari yelled, while Sammy just laughed. "I used to be a surgeon before I met you." Sammy yelled, seeing Ari stumble back. "I follow you around blindly, why, because my best friend is in love with you. I don't know why, you could've gotten her killed tonight." Sammy stated, lunging at Ari before his fist collided with the mans jaw. "Shut up!" Ari yelled, before the two men started an all out fist fight in the cell.
3/4 of the team were working together, while the other 1/4 was duking it out in a jail cell, what possibly could go wrong?
