The sun had finally set when Sammy and I walked up to the door of the Mossad, scanning our badges before entering the top secret facility. "Barak and Ethan have requested us." Sammy spoke to the front desk agent, his hand on the small of my back while I tugged Ari's coat around me tighter, the frigid air making me shiver. "Of course," the woman spoke, pressing a button, the ground rumbling as a door opened that had stairs leading down appeared in front of us. "Good luck Agent Navon, Agent Ashley." She smiled, watching with intrigue as Sammy and I climbed down the stairs, the walkway getting brighter as we approached the underground base. "Agents." Barak smiled as Sammy and I entered the room, approaching us. "Barak, Ethan." Sammy greeted, both of us following him into the room. "How far along are they?" I asked, sitting down in a chair next to a microphone, looking up at Ethan. "Meeting the contact now." He spoke solemnly.
"So, there's more roadblocks, what are we going to do now?" Jake asked, leaning against the warm metal of the truck. "We'll have to either plow through them again, or figure out a way around." Ari spoke calmly, rolling the ring around his thumb and forefinger, sighing as he slid it back into his pocket. "God where is Addi to talk some sense into you when needed." Max muttered, crossing his arms across his chest. "It'll be fine, I can just talk my way out of it again." Ari shrugged, hearing Jake let out a dry laugh. "Ari, that's not going to save you every time. We need another plan!" Jake spoke, crossing his arms, his chest puffing out. "It worked before, it'll work again." Ari explained nonchalantly. "No the only reason we knew we wouldn't be caught is because Addi checked the trucks before hand. Why is she the only one who pays attention to our concerns." Max stated, seeing Ari drop his head. "Please, just drop it for now." Ari whispered, seeing Kabede arriving over the hilltops.
"Ari's going to do something stupid, I just know it." Ethan muttered, looking at me while I dropped my head. "He'll be fine." I replied, leaning against the back of the chair while Ethan laughed. "The whole reason he's been slightly successful on this mission is because you're the one who's been in command." Ethan snapped, while I raised my eyebrow. "Are you saying that I'm actually valuable to a mission? Not just dead weight?" I asked, crossing my arms with a smug look resting on my lips. "Addi." Sammy warned, a sigh leaving my lips while I slumped into the seat. "Yes, I was saying that, but your attitude sucks." Ethan teased, while I shook my head. "Is Ethan actually saying he thinks I'm valuable." I smiled, looking up at Sammy who shook his head laughing.
"Alright everyone go dark, we're going through the roadblock again." Ari's voice broke through the silent room, all eyes falling on me. "Okay he's lost his mind officially, can you try and talk some sense into him?" Ethan spoke softly, while I reached forward, pressing the button to allow me through. "Guy, listen to me." I spoke, Sammy's hands on my shoulders while I let out a shaky breath. "Cupcake?" Ari replied, a breath escaping his lips. "You can't go through that again, please. You're risking everyones life by doing it." I explained, hearing him sigh. "Give me another route cupcake." He pleaded, while I looked over at Sammy. "I need a map." I spoke quickly, standing up to clear the desk. "Has anyone been monitoring where the Sudanese military is?" I asked, seeing everyone look on shocked. "You've had 6 agents in Sudan, and no one has been tracking?"
"We didn't think about it Agent Ashley." One of the men spoke quietly, while I slumped back into the chair, Ari's voice breaking through. "Cupcake running out of options here!" He spoke hurriedly, a sigh leaving my lips. "I got it, I had the map I brought from Sudan." Sammy mumbled, ruffling around his backpack, pulling out the crumpled piece of paper. "Oh thank god someone knows how to do their job." I mumbled, grabbing the paper, spreading it out on the table, my right hand sliding forward to press the button and allow me to converse with the caravan. "Baby, I need coordinates." I spoke, my finger trailing over the map when he told me the location. "Sammy, hard right or?" I asked, seeing him smile as he leaned over me, pressing the button. "Guy, listen to me, take a hard left, there's a service road that will take you on the other side of the resort, we'll notify the navy that it'll be a later arrival." Sammy spoke, a chuckle leaving Ari's throat when he replied. "What would I ever do without you two?"
After a few hours, another successful mission was completed, a loud cheer echoing in the basement while I hugged Sammy tightly a bright smile on both of our lips. "Way to go munchkin. You did it." Sammy whispered, smiling as I hugged him tighter. "It wasn't just me." I replied, pulling back to look at him. "We always said we'd lead a mission together." He chuckled, looking over my shoulder to see Barak and Ethan smiling at us. "Maybe we should keep you guys here." Barak chuckled while I shook my head, a playful laugh leaving my lips. "I don't know, Ethan said I wasn't dead weight on missions, I think I belong on the field." I teased, seeing Ethan shake his head laughing. "Keep Ari on his toes, keep him in check, this next mission cannot be a fail when we're so successful." Ethan stated, sticking his hand out, waiting for me to shake it. "Yes sir." I smiled, shaking his hand softly.
"Alright Addi, let's go see our parents before our flight in the morning." Sammy smiled, tossing Ari's jacket it at me, a smile on my lips as I joined him at the door. "Addi wait!" Barak yelled, a jump escaping me while I turned around, his body approaching me while digging around his coat pocket. "Your father had this on him back when we found the bodies, the envelope said to give it to you when you found the one." He smiled, placing the letter in my hand, a sad smile on my lips. "Thank you." I said softly, Barak running his hand up and down my arm. "Good job with Ari, he really does love you." Barak smiled, watching as I turned around, taking Sammy's arm so he could lead me up the dark stairwell. "Hey Navon!" Barak called, Sammy turning to look at him. "Take care of Rachel." Barak smiled, shutting the door behind us.
"That was weird."
