•Chapter 23• {|Recovery|}

Li was sitting in the kitchen with the others, hanging out with Mei and MK and eating dinner. She was laughing due to some jokes MK told her, smiling amusingly from his enthusiasm, "Wow MK, I'm so glad your doing ok...I was worried sick about you, it felt like I was loosing a child of my own..." she said more gloomy near the end, sorrow on her face. MK quickly gave her a reassuring smile and spoke, "Awww! It's ok Li, I'm ok now! A little bruised and late in recovery but, I'm good!" The boy said as he smiled at her, "YEAH! MK can beat anyone- well- not EVERYONE but, he has guts!" Mei joined in, smiling with him and looking confident in herself. Li smiled back and rested her head on the pillow that was behind her, letting her aching head rest in the recovery. Kenji and Tang was having tea, having conversations about Kenji's past and his relationship with Wukong, sharing they're knowledge and being peaceful. Pigsy and Sammy was enjoying themselves and eating together, chatting and laughing, but then they heard someone walking into the kitchen and saw the Monkey King, him yawning and looking stressed out his mind, his hair down and him in pajama like attire. Li smiled at his presence but also sensed some distress behind that calm and lazy smile he had, so she got up and limped towards him with her walkers, wanting to greet him. "Hello Wukong, are you feeling ok? You look like your stressed out of your mind.." asked Li, looking concerned and worried at the Monkey King, Wukong looked at her in surprise but then looked relieved to see her, holding his arms behind his head as he responded. "Yeah, I'm doing fine! I'm good...just trying to recover from what happened, I feel stressed out from the impact that whole fiasco back at the mountains had on me, but cmon! I'm the Monkey King! I'm ok..." he said with a bit of gloom in the end. Scratching his frizzy and wild hair as his tail swayed in a calm motion and having a reassuring grin on his face. "Are you sure, you look tired...here, why don't you have some tea? It's been a stressful and rough night so far, let's enjoy it to makeup for it all shall we?" Asked the blue furred monkey, giving the Monkey King a small yet sweet grin, he smiled back and began to hold her hand, taking her to sit with the others. "Sure, I'd like to makeup for all the chaos we went through, Macaque might've did a number on me but due to my immortality, it didn't effect me that much, who I'm really worried about is you, Li Mei and MK..." said Wukong as he gave her a calm and sweet look, still holding her hand and sitting her down at her seat, Li smiling back, the two sharing a gaze for a moment until they were interrupted by MK. "Monkey King!!! Your awake! I thought you was out cold! How'd you sleep? Are you ok???" Asked the boy in a worried yet excited tone, making the monkey chuckle. "Awww thanks kid, but I'm doing fine! Sure, I had a little nightmare, but I woke from it...thank the heavens I was able to wake up to a more sweet and kind setting...the dream was chaotic and horrific!" Shouted the monkey as he spread his arms out wide and everyone giving him attention. "Well Monkey King, why don't you tell us about this...nightmare." Said Kenji as he held his stick. Wukong looked uneasy and immediately tried to change the subject, "Uhm, I would love to but...it hit me hard, I don't want to relive that nightmarish reality of my mind...it scared me bad.." Wukong said as he looked nervously to the side, cringing a bit. Kenji understood how he felt and nodded. "I understand Monkey King, but, if you want to speak up on any matter, I, WE are here for you." Kenji said reassuringly and smiling, Wukong returning the smile.

Everyone continued they're dinner and chatted, Li was finishing up her noodles and dumplings and smiled from the taste, slurping up some noodles and taking a few chews and then swallowing and a happy sigh coming after. Wukong snickered at her a bit but didn't want to show it but began to laugh in amusement from her quirkiness, smiling and watching her. The kids were enjoying themselves and acting like the chaotic duo they were, jumping on the couches and laughing from the fun. "Hey Monkey King? How was it like fighting with my grandfather all those years ago?" Asked Li as she was eating, "It was AMAZING! He was the first person to not treat me like I was a monster! Sure, I caused chaos and MAAAAAYBE went against the Jade Palace and fought the whole Jade army and got banished for it, but here I am! I met Kenji years later, saw him talking to one of my monkey friends and decided to join in! Then after that, we soon had a connection, we fought together, ate peaches together and even caused a little bit of chaos! But it was a blast!" Said Wukong in excitement as he smiled at Li then Kenji added himself in. "A blast in the past." Said her grandfather with a playful smile on his face. "Good one." Said Wukong as he gave Kenji a gentle fist bump and Kenji chuckling, Li only laughed and smiled at the two getting back together as the duo they once were and connecting with each other again. "Why that's incredible Wukong! I'm so excited to hear more! Can you tell me grandpa? Your better at telling me stories!" Said Li as she gave her grandfather puppy eyes and pleaded, making the old monkey sigh in defeat from her cuteness and spoke. "Alright my dear, but this is the last time I'm telling you!" Said Kenji as he got comfortable and sat on the pillow he was sitting on crisscrossed, Li's eyes glowing in admiration and her gasping a long and excited gasp, ready to hear the story, of Kenji and Wukong. "OOO!!! OOO!!! I Wanna hear!!! Said MK as he scattered off the couch and went under Li's arm on the pillow, his eyes glowing like hers in desperation to hear more, Mei joining in and sitting next to the two also excited. "Yeah! Me too!!!" She shouted soon after, making Li and Kenji chuckle and Wukong smiled as he rested his head back against the pillow he was sitting on and listened in as the others gathered in too, ready to hear what was Kenji's past all about.

Kenji smiled and chuckled, putting his staff down and resting his arms over his lap and breathing in to get himself ready to tell, the others growing more anxious to hear by the second but then he spoke.

"It all started...back in the past when I was a farmer in a village long, long ago..."
