sometimes you don't get what you want
because you deserve better.

kairi

wow.

i think that's really all i could say to myself as i walked through the front door of my house. seeing my sister and mom sitting at the table like a couple of weirdos.

"damn, you were both sitting here the whole time while i sat outside of my school waiting for someone to pick me up." i said, tossing my bag onto the couch.

"i am so sorry baby, i was at work and my boss wouldn't let me leave. i promise i didn't forget about you...if it helps i was worried every second. it won't happen again, did you walk all the way home? how was pottery class? d-did anyone stop you while you were walking? everything's okay, right sweetie?" my mom rushed with questions. making my head spin.

"mama! everything's fine...a-a guy drove me here." i shrugged, reaching into my pocket and taking my headphones out.

"wha-who? a stranger?! did a stranger pick you up from the side of the road?!" my mom screamed. "no ma, i know better than that." i rolled my eyes teasingly, "it's someone from school. don't worry, i was safe."

"oh my god, you like whoever he is, don't you?" maiya asked, playing around with the bracelets on her wrist as she watched me intently. "ew, no you freak. he's gross. he just happened to be the only person at school who could drive me, i don't like him at all." i stated, going to the fridge and popping one of my headphones in.

"you're blushing! who is it?" maiya shouted, banging her little fist on the table.

god, as much as i loved my mom and maiya for being so supportive of me not really knowing my sexuality. maiya reads too much damn fanficion and thinks the first boy or girl i come across is my future spouse.

"lord maiya, don't you have homework to do?" i asked, grabbing a water from the top shelf in the fridge, twisting the top off and taking a long sip.

"i do not, and i'm just curious who this mystery boy is." she shrugged, teasing me and making a kissy face. "hm, you say you have no school work to do, but that 'c' on your report card says other wise." i glared over at her, walking to the living room and laying down on the couch.

"ugh, ma!" maiya called.

she is always such a snitch when she didn't get her way. our mom just shouted from the kitchen for the both of us to stop fighting. she never really paid much attention to our antics when it came to us play fighting and making fun of each other.

"whatever, i'll find out who that boy is. loser," maiya whispered under her breath, running upstairs to her room.

"why must you and your sister always fight, you used to love each other when you were babies, i miss those times." my mom pouted as she came into the living room, sitting down in the brown reclining chair in the corner of the room.

even though my mom was nearly "old", she still really wanted another kid. she always teased and said that we were getting too old, and that she wanted young and fresh children. to be honest, i liked the idea of having another younger sibling, it's better than dealing with maiya by myself, all day long until i move out.

"we don't fight ma, we are just rude to each other respectfully, and we still love each other, we just have odd ways of showing it." i smiled, grabbing the remote controller from under me and turning the tv on.

i stayed in bed the rest of the night, searching up questions to ask mattia since we had a deal now.
