three weeks. how much can change in just three weeks?

a lot, apparently. according to how much closer mattia and kairi had gotten.

they still weren't at that stage where kairi could call them best friends, or friends even. but they definitely did talk more. they were acquaintances mostly, peers even. nothing more and nothing less.

but that's just what kairi thought.

both boys had talked over face-time almost every night. giving each other details about their days, watching movies, playing imessage games. a lot of stupid things to pass time.

kairi had to admit, it was nice to see mattia so giggly and smiley every time they spoke.

he'd changed a lot since they started talking. it made kairi happy how mattia wasn't this moody, introverted guy anymore.

well-at least with kairi he wasn't.

mattia's pov

"mom! i'm leaving! are you sure you don't need my help with anything?" i called out to my mom once i got upstairs to the living room, sitting down on the couch and slipping my shoes on.

"no, matti! i'm fine! have fun!" she replied, somewhere from her room.

my mom was about five-six weeks pregnant now from what she's told me.

she has somewhat of a belly bump but she just tells me and nano that's it's from her 'bloating' but i think she's just too scared to admit that the baby's actually growing.

since my dad was at work and nobody would be home with her besides gian and she was tidying her room up, i wanted to make sure she wasn't gonna do anything to hurt or strain herself.

"okay, ask gian for help if anything, bye ma!" i shouted, pushing myself up from the couch cushions and leaving the house.

mattia was out of breath and almost a little light headed once he finally reached kairi's house. since his car privileges were taken away until he could prove he could actually take care of it properly, he had to bike everywhere. which was a bit embarrassing since he looked like a little kid.

he sat his bike up by the garage door and ran up the small steps leading to the front door.

he knocked, waiting for any sort of answer as he leaned his body weight on his knees, dropping his head to catch his breath.

"maiya, i swear to god-" kairi swung the front door open, his face dropping a bit when he saw mattia.

the older boy smiled slight as he looked up. "hi,"

"h-hi...why are you here?"

"uh...i thought we could hang out today...i-is it a bad time?" mattia asked. suddenly feeling bad because even though kairi told him he could come over whenever he wanted, he probably should have asked before actually coming.

"n-no...it's not, but-uh...just, wait right here." kairi told him, closing the door right in mattia's face.

the older boy stood on the front step, tapping his foot as he waited for kairi to come back from whatever he was doing.
