"shoot it! shoot it!" alejandro yelled.
kaiei looked around, seeing he had nowhere else to go, fricking roshaun and robert were blocking him in. "i can't!" kairi yelled, trying to reach up before rob tickled him when his arms went up.
"hey! that's not fair!" ale screamed as kairi dribbled the basketball to him, running away and towards the hoop.
"kai! catch!" ale screamed, getting closer to the hoop before throwing the ball towards kairi, blocking robert and roshaun from him. "oh-interference!" ale shouted, lifting kairi up in his arms and closer to the basketball hoop, giving kairi a chance to throw it inside.
"goal!" kairi screamed. the boy wasn't very familiar with basketball, he mostly just played soccer.
"yeah!" alejandro cheered.
alvaro rolled his eyes as he watched all the boys run around the basketball court. he wasn't allowed to play because apparently he was 'too short'
"i'm the same height as kairi! why can't i play this round?" alvaro asked, standing up from the off bench and asking for the basketball.
kairi rolled his eyes before looking down at his watch, seeing his heartbeat was going faster.
"imma sit down, alvaro, you take over. if i play any longer, i'll pass out." kairi giggled, slapping alvaro's leg as the boy took over his spot.

kairi hated school mornings. but at least it was friday, it seemed that the weeks had been going by faster and faster nowadays.
but he didn't hate waking up because of school, he hated waking up because of chemo.
every friday. after school, some days he'd even have to get picked up early because the doctor would bump up his appointment.
"mama! where are my cleats?!" kairi shouted, scrounging around in his room closet looking for his soccer shoes.
"i cleaned them yesterday! they're outside drying!" his mom yelled back, he ran downstairs, getting winded as he got to the back door, opening it and seeing his cleats on the floor.
"thank you for cleaning them ma." kairi shouted, putting them in his nike string bag and throwing it over his back.
"i have practice after school, so i'll see you guys after, bye ma, bye maiya, love you!"

as much as kairi hated to admit it, he really did like talking to mattia.
kairi didn't have any older siblings, so talking to someone who seemed like a brother figure was very entertaining. especially since like normal brothers, both boys loved to annoy each other.
"hey butthead!" kairi yelled, chest bumping the older boy when he saw him waiting by the water fountain, on his phone with his headphones in.
"hi!" kairi said, pinching his cheek just to piss the older boy off.
"hey, quit it." mattia told the young boy, pushing him off of him as he took his headphones out. "but my job on this beautiful earth is to annoy you!" kairi smiled, standing on his tippy-toes and making a silly expression as he got all up in mattia's face.
