i wanna be the broken love song
that feeds your misery, and i can wish
all that i want, but it won't bring us together
plus i know whatever happens to me
i know it's for the betterthird pov
"ouch, jesus, maiya. that's gonna leave a mark, you little brat." mattia groaned as he bumped into a random wall, he was blindfolded so he needed help getting to kairi's room. that was impossible since maiya sucked at navigating.
"sorry! but we're almost there." maiya replied, holding onto mattia's arm before the sound of a door breaking was heard, "okay, walk forward," she said, slightly pushing mattia forward. nearly making him fall over.
"jeez! kairi if you're listening then please control your sister. she's trying to kill me!" mattia shouted, wrapping his arms around himself protectively.
he could hear kairi giggle from somewhere in the distance of whatever room they were in.
"shut up, just take your blindfold off now." maiya told him, pulling at his t-shirt sleeve.
mattia slowly took the cloth off of his eyes, blinking rapidly as he tried to adjust his eyes to the bright lights of kairi's hospital room.
"surprise!" both siblings shouted, their hands up in the air with a table of cake and all sorts of baked goods and sweets on it in front of mattia, a lit candle as well as fancy writing on it.
"w-wow...thanks guys," mattia smiled, looking around the room to see decorations everywhere, most of them correlating to a birthday party but it was the thought that counted.
"happy birthday, matti! do you like it? we tried our best to buy birthday decorations but they only had retirement things and baby shower stuff so last minute so we had to improvise." kairi said, smiling up at mattia who looked pretty happy, so kairi just assumed that he didn't care.
a lot of the signs had certain things crossed out on them, 'happy birthday' written in big black sharpie instead.
"no, it's perfect you guys, thanks...a-and this cake, it's so cute."
maiya had made it, whipping out all of her betty crocker skills to bake all of these sweet treats. "the cake is strawberry shortcake flavor, kairi told me it was your favorite."
mattia thanked both of them over and over again. feeling nothing but happiness, especially when his parents and younger siblings came in.
"happy birthday!" gianluca shouted as he burst into the room, hugging his older brother tightly, both their parents standing behind him with matilda in her car seat.
"thanks, gian...y-you guys are here, hi. thanks for coming." mattia smiled, hugging his brother back before going to his mom and dad and doing the same.
"of course we came, we wouldn't wanna miss our baby's sixteenth birthday, especially if there's cake." matiluca laughed, handing matilda and her car seat over to her older brother.
"hi kairi, it's good to see you babe." matiluca said, leaning over and kissing kairi's forehead, giacomo doing the same.
"i've gotta get plates and forks from the cafeteria, gia, come help me." matiluca said, gesturing for her husband to follow behind her.
kairi made grabby hands at matilda, wanting her to be closer to him so he could get a better look, she was just too adorable to miss.
"hi!" maiya said, a little too loud to gianluca. excited to have him in her presence.
"h-hi...i'm gianluca," he replied, holding his hand out. making the two older boys laugh at how much of a little grown man gianluca was being.
"i'm maiya..." she took his hand with gracefulness, "d-do you wanna go for a walk?"
