"no, mama! make them stop! it hurts, mama! please!"

"mama please!"

maiya jumped at the sound of her older brother screaming in his room across the hallway, she quickly scrambled out of bed, sprinting to his room and swinging the door open.

she frowned as she watched kairi's limbs flail, his bedsheets and stuffed animals scattered all over the floor.

"kairi...kairi!" she yelled, grabbing a hold of her brother's arm to shake him awake.

he screamed once more before finally waking up, sweating and shaking, gasping for air, and clutching his chest.

"m-maiya...what?"

"y-you were screaming...you woke me up, you were saying something about...mama and...making "them" stop-"

"go to sleep, maiya." is all kairi could grumble out as he grabbed whatever blanket he had left on his bed, pulling it over himself, and closing his eyes, trying to erase the memory of his bad dream.

maiya sighed before turning on her heels and leaving his room, leaving the door a bit open to be able to check on kairi again just in case.

school was a bit sucky lately.

mattia had to sit by himself and in whatever classes he normally had with kairi because the boy had been absent for a few days. mattia also had to avoid and just completely ignore his ex friends, but kairi made that pretty difficult by telling them that mattia wanted to start up their friendship again.

mattia could only hope that kairi would be back in school soon because he was really missing his friend.

mp: you okay?

mp: don't you have to be in school a certain amount of days to graduate?

mp: better stop missing school

kairi wanted to cry, again, as he waited for doctor dalton to come to his room.

his cheeks were tear-stained and he felt like he couldn't breathe properly as his sister squeezed his hand tightly.

"k-kairi...you have to calm down-"

"n-no, what if it's back? what if it's back? a-and i have it?...i'm gonna-"

"kairi, stop, you're gonna make yourself throw up." his mom soothed him, rubbing his back softly to get him to start breathing like a normal person.

but he couldn't bare the fact that this could be it.

he could have it again.

have 'it' again.

the big scary word that nobody in his house was allowed to use in fear that they would be jinxing his chances.

kairi never had dreams about his past experience with cancer...

unless there was something to be scared of when it came to the cancer.

he had one of those nightmares the day before one of his big surgery's...where he nearly died from blood loss.

these dreams meant something.
