"Are you going to tell us what is happening with you?" I said.

We spent the last 30 minutes trying to get my mom to talk.

She knows something about Marie Ann Moretti, but she wouldn't talk at all.

She just seemed nervous the whole time.

"Mrs. Owens, you seem very stressed," Faith said. "We just want to know what is going on with you."

"It's...It's nothing..."She said. "I am...I am just worried about work. It's all that's stressing me out these days."

"Work?" I asked. "What about work?"

"Yeah, just a lot of things about work."

"Yeah, but what about work are you so stressed about?"

"Evan, I never ask you questions about your work and what you have going on. You don't even like people asking you questions related to your work. Please don't ask me about my work as well."

"Right. Like you're really out here stressing about work."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"That means that I know you are not stressing about work. I'm not stupid. I know you only act like this when trying to hide something."

"I don't have anything to hide."

"Really? So you're not hiding anything?"

"No, I am not hiding anything at a-"

"Who's Marie Ann Moretti?"

She got silent again.

I'm starting to feel frustrated.

I know she knows something.

That's why she's been acting so damn strange lately.

It's like she's hiding something ever since the time of her accident.

"I...I don't know who that is." She said.

"Yes, you do," I said.

"Evan, I don't know what you're trying to do over here, but I don't know who that person is. Do me a favor and tell me who that is because I don't know."

I rolled my eyes in annoyance.

"Now, excuse me, I have something very important to do." She said.

I sighed in frustration, putting my hands in my pocket.

She gave me a stern look, walking away.

"Well, there goes that," Faith said, running her hands through her hair. "It's so obvious that she knows something."

"Exactly," I said. "She's been acting strange since the accident. I wasn't thinking much about it until you pointed it out. And tonight has confirmed that she knows something for sure."
