"Press charges for what?" Evan said, breaking the silence in the room. "Press charges for something I didn't even do?"
"Let the court decide that," Max said. "Just because you're saying it doesn't mean we believe you didn't do anything."
"And just because Brittany is saying it doesn't mean that we believe Evan did anything," Jake said.
"That's exactly my point," Mason said. "Max, you swear you know everything, but we all know you're the stupidest person in this room. Let's not forget how you were in the same room as a criminal mastermind like Land, and you couldn't even figure it out once."
Max angrily adjusted his glasses.
"Mason, mind your business when it comes to me, and quit making this about me," he said sternly. "This is not about me. It's about what happened in front of all of us. We all just saw with our own eyes what happened between Evan and Brittany. Even after we saw all that, you expect us to turn a blind eye to it. Like, are you freaking kidding me? We saw it with our eyes. All of it is in front of—"
"You should be the first person in this room to know that not everything we see with our eyes is true," I interrupted, startling him. "Landon is the greatest example that not everything we see with our eyes is the truth. Some things are meant to mislead us. Isn't that the same thing Landon did to every one of us who believed and trusted him?"
Max rolled his eyes, looking away.
"Faith is right," Mary said. "Yeah, it's true that we just saw a lot in front of us, but Faith and Mason have a point. The things we see and are told could be misleading. For all we know, Brittany could be putting on a whole act."
"Why would she lie about this?" Cassidy asked. "Why would Brittany do that?"
"Because Brittany's crazy for Evan and has done it multiple times," Lauren said.
Cassidy clenched her teeth, glaring at Lauren.
Lauren frowned, looking down immediately.
"I don't know all of that," Professor Niall said. "All I know is that I have a terrified student that I need to attend to. All I believe is what I have seen with my eyes today. Currently, nothing is more important than Brittany's safety. If she's saying that she's in danger from Evan, I must ensure she's safe. I need Evan to stay as far away from Brittany as possible. We can look into everything else later. As of now, her safety is my top priority."
Evan angrily knocked down a chair with his feet, startling everyone.
"Go ahead and press charges!" he exclaimed, looking straight at Brittany. "I won't get in trouble for something I haven't done! Forget touching you, I hate the sight of your face! And you're saying that I abused and harassed you!?"
