"But we still aren't sure if it's for sure," Faith said.

"Is this some kind of joke!?" Mrs. Wyatt asked, sounding angry. "I...I found my son's dead body...And you're telling me he's alive...What kind of...What kind of sick joke is this?"

"Mrs. Wyatt, calm down," I said, holding her hand. "At this moment, it's hard to explain anything. I promise I'll explain everything when I solve it."

"Evan, what's...What's going on? You're saying Ray might be alive, and Faith says you're unsure whether he is...What am I to believe?"

"Just trust me, and I promise you that when things start to make sense, I'll explain everything to you."

She stayed silent for a while, looking confused.

"Please, let us go into that room so that I can get to the bottom of all this," I said.

She hesitantly nodded her head.

"Also, I need you to make another promise to me," I said.

"What is it?" she asked.

"Nobody can know what I said about Ray. Nobody at all, not even Mr. Wyatt. I don't want anyone to get an idea of this."

"Evan, please...Please don't put my hopes up like this...Ray is all I think about...My child didn't deserve to go through all that...And now I don't want to get my hopes up and watch them all fall..."

"I'm not trying to hurt you. There's a reason why I'm saying this. Please trust me and let me figure this out. I promise it will be alright, and I will be here for you, too. I'm always going to be here."

She silently nodded her head, getting up to get the keys to the room.

"Evan, what's wrong with you!?" Faith exclaimed as soon as Mrs. Wyatt left. "How can you put her hopes up like that? We don't even know for sure if Ray is alive. How will she cope with everything if we're going way over our heads?"

I honestly don't even know, but Mrs. Wyatt has been miserable since this whole thing happened. Mr. Wyatt keeps himself busy with work, but she has nothing to keep her mind off things. She stays home all day, crying and thinking about Ray. She needs hope that things will fall into place.

Ever since I found out that there's a chance that Ray could be alive, things haven't been that hard for me. I'm able to sleep with hope at night, and I'm sure that there's more to this whole thing, as there are a lot of strange things surrounding Ray's sudden death, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it.

"Evan, do you not hear me?" Faith asked.

"Yeah, I do," I said. "Look, she's just going through a lot. At least now things will get easier for her."

"And what if we turn out to be wrong? What's going to happen then? How will she cope with—"

"I'm going to figure something out then."
