Story: Fullmetal Alchemist, Brotherhood
Creator: Yasuhiro Irie and Hiroshi Ōnogi
I recently (saying that now in December 2021) looped back into Fullmetal alchemist from my earlier (Spring) 2021 phase of checking it out, and decided to make an AU where, for one day, something in the alchemical world allows people to see the deceased ones because why not.
I was gonna write Edward and Alphonse seeing their parents but then I said to myself, "Not only am I not motivated to write that, but I don't even know how it'd go!! :D" so here we are. This is also my first attempt at writing something like this, so sorry if it's shoddy.
Also I found a much better au by humming-fly on tumblr where the FMA gang just chuck a philosophers stone at the dying and revive them and that made my day

The Revival Day.
A day where Truth let trusted alchemists defy the laws of alchemy for once, allowing them to see those who they had lost in their lives.
Edward and Alphonse Elric had invited their previous allies to participate in one large event, and it was going to be their first time doing so. Last year was the first time the event was attempted, and it had gone surprisingly better than expected. Only few with malicious intent were involved, but they were found and properly dealt with. This year, people were doing it in groups so that less would miss out, as alchemists could cover for those that didn't use it. All that was needed was a specifically designed transmutation circle around someone, then an activation movement upon it like a slap or stomp.
At the current moment, everyone was gathered around the site, though neither of the two brothers had started calling people over yet. Of the group, Ling Yao was sitting patiently by a bench table, though he'd brought a snack with him to hold him over while he waited. The banter of everyone else was a nice ambience to have around, though it wouldn't last forever.
After what felt like an hour, that time came.
Ed and Al called everyone open to the large, open field to the side of the benches, and everyone concluded what they were doing to walk over. Many immediately noticed that the two had gone ahead of time and made the circles already, with the only thing remaining being an activation movement. The group continued to walk over, each finding an empty circle in the field. The size mattered, unfortunately, but it appeared that both brothers had taken into account everyone that was there while they weren't watching. All the circles were widely spaced apart, and also placed as neatly as possible. Once everyone had found their circle, the group immediately got to work.
The alchemists started by helping the non-alchemists who were new to this. Didn't take too long, but soon enough they'd been transported to the void in no time. Ling was amongst these people, but he frankly didn't mind waiting if he had to. He already understood the instructions on how to do this, he was just waiting to see if there was any further instruction. Upon his questions being confirmed by there not being any additional notes, Ling stomped his foot firmly on the ground, and in just a few seconds, everything went white.

Ling definitely felt the presence of people in here. All people he recognized, something he was both surprised and not surprised at the same time to see as he looked around.
But one presence amongst these was not human.
No, one signature in specific seemed to stick out from the rest, and for a moment...Ling couldn't quite figure out why.
