The group entered the cave, unsure if they were ready or not.
"Hello? Anyone in here? Silvia asked.
Ryn turned the corner, only to find a sleeping Sea monster. it was yellow, but had rather shiny scales.
"Shhh! there's a sleeping sea monster in here!" She whispered to everyone.
Everyone nodded, and quieted down.
"C-can I see?" Cosmo asked.
"Sure, just be quiet." Ryn replied.
Cosmo took a look.
"AAAAH! A SEA MONSTER!" Cosmo yelled.
Everybody facepalmed.
"I'm a sea DRAGON, thank you very much."
"H-HUH?!" Ryn turned to look at the dragon.
Everyone was shocked, and took a few steps back as the dragon opened its eyes.
"Wasn't napping. just a trap to see what kind or foolish beings would come into my lair."
"A-ah, sorry...sorry then! We'll be heading out n-now-" Cosmo turned to leave.
"Wait! all we wanted was shelter from the storm!" Jack said.
"Storms take a long time here, kid. I don't think I should let you in here."
"Please, mr. monster! we won't bother you again, we promise!" Silvia said, turning to look at everyone else. They nodded.
"I have a name, and it's Kagayaku. AND I'm a sea DRAGON."
"Psh, dragon, monster, what's the difference?" Fang grumbled.
"Oh, there's PLENTY a difference." Kaga growled.
Kagayaku got up and stretched his body out. Everybody was ready to escape the cave when ready, in case he got mad. Kagayaku shook his giant head and then started.
"First off, sea dragons come in a range of sizes and body types, some just happen to look like sea monsters. There are long kinds, small kinds, big kinds, flying kinds, so on."
Right, one would figure that dragons would come in different forms...
"Second off, we usually have powers from birth. Sea monsters usually don't, with a few exceptions."
Right again, as most dragons usually had a breath or something to aid in their fighting.
"And THIRD, our power is WAY higher up. A sea monster alone? about 500-1,000. A sea dragon alone? about 5,000, probably even higher. Then again, a sea monster's powers might be able to bring it up to around 2,500 or so..."
Everyone gulped. If sea dragons were THAT powerful, they should probably not get on Kaga's bad side.
"O-oh..." Fang mumbled.
"Indeed."
"So uh. are we allowed to stay here for the storm, or?" Jack asked.
"FIrst you must prove yourselves worthy, by answering three questions." Kaga replied.
Cosmo shrunk back.
"O-okay! anyone wanna go and-"
"We'll do it." Corrin and Ryn stepped up.
"Very well then. First question."
He cleared his throat.
"What can go through the green glass door, if you can," he pointed to Corrin, "...and you cannot?" he pointed to Ryn.
"Uh." Ryn thought. That wasn't a lot of information...
"Give us another example!" Corrin said.
"A waterfall can, but water cannot."
"That...doesn't help." Ryn mumbled. Maybe it was super specific things?
Corrin was also stuck.
"Berries can, Melons cannot." Kaga continued, sensing they were stuck.
"Hmmm..." Corrin thought. Ther had to be SOMETHING all of these had in common. Maybe the letters?
"Seeds and trees can, but flowers and bushes cannot."
Well, "E" fit in with all of the-wait no, his name didn't. It had to be something-wait.
"Can you go through?" Ryn asked.
"Nope."
"Wait! can a green glass door go through the green glass door?" Corrin asked.
"Ah, correct!"
"Did you figure it out, Corrin?!" Ryn asked.
"All the words have double letters! Right?" He turned to the yellow dragon.
"You've got it." Kaga nodded.
"Woohoo!" Ryn and Corrin high-fived.
"Alright, second question. Inside an Ivory box is a crystal ball. Inside the crystal ball is a heart of gold. what is it?"
"Is this...an actual object?" Ryn asked.
"Can't tell you." Kaga grumbled.
"Darnit."
"Would it be...a treasure chest?" Corrin asked.
"Nope. you're out." Kaga said, not taking his eyes off Ryn.
"What?! you didn't say anything about that!" Corrin said, now worried for Ryn.
"Silence. it is up to your other friend here."
Oh no, Ryn couldn't handle this kind of pressure...
"God I wish I had eaten before we got here..." Jack grumbled. "I could go for some bacon and eggs right about now..."
'Eggs...' Ryn thought.
Wait! the ivory...it was the shell! the crystal was the whites, and the heart was the yolk!
"An Egg?" she asked.
"Correct!"
"Phew-"
"Third and final question."I shine brightest in the dark. I am there but cannot be seen. To have me costs you nothing. To be without me costs you everything."
"Uh..."
"Oh dear." Silvia mumbled.
(wasn't continued)
