Story: Digimon 02
Creator: Atsushi Maekawa  and Genki Yoshimura

Vague Context: There's been a strange creature in the digital world, and it seems to have ties with the digimon emperor. When Davis finds a similar looking one in the real world, he is puzzled as to what it might be.

(There's a whole au thing for this that I COULD type, but seeing as I've already got splatoon fans, I don't know how many people would want a digimon story out of nowhere, haha...)

Davis didn't know what he was staring at.

There in the pouring rain, out in the open with the forest's trees surrounding it, was a huge dove gray creature. It looked like it was bipedal, but he had no way of knowing. Davis could only see the lower end of it, and couldn't see its head or arms. Something about it struck a familiar bell in his head, yet he couldn't place where he'd seen this thing before. He wasn't even sure what to do with this thing. Dare he take a picture and ask the others what it was? Should he just leave it alone? Was it dead?

Davis suddenly noticed a glint in the grass. He wasn't entirely sure what to do here, but he did hit best to squint and try to find the source of the light. When that failed, he tried shifting around a little, hoping to see if that would help. When it didn't, he slowly began approaching, careful not to make a noise or wake the beast up. Once he was a few feet away from the beast however, he paused.

Its foot had been snagged in a bear trap.

Ouch.

Well, Davis wasn't going to sit there and do nothing. Keeping his umbrella and his bag with him, he ran over, careful not to slip on the wet grass. Once he reached the ensnared foot, he halted and dropped to his knees, not caring if his pants got wet at this point. Holding onto the umbrella handle with his neck against his shoulder, Davis began his attempt to pry the blasted trap open.

Of course, it wasn't an easy task. The rainwater on his hands and the trap made gripping it no easy feat. Davis tried prying it with rocks and sticks and numerous other things, but still nothing worked. He was not so easily deterred however, and still kept going. He kept pulling and pulling and drying his hands off and pulling...

Until suddenly...

Clang!

Davis let out a sigh of relief as he felt the trap open up. He gently touched the uninsured parts of the huge foot, and moved it out of the trap and off to the side. He then flipped the bear trap upside down so that the sharp points dug into the ground, also so it wouldn't hurt anyone else. He then moved over to the foot, still using his neck to hold the umbrella. There were rather deep marks in the flesh, and it was bleeding like crazy.

Desperately, Davis dug through his bag, looking for anything to cover the wound. He found two smiley bandages and the left over paper towels from the party. He figured he could at least try and clean up the wound before putting the bandages on, even though he didn't have ointment and the marks that were there were too big for just two bandages. He ripped out a piece of paper towel, and gently began patting at the foot, seeing as the rainwater was already washing it a little. It was then, however, that he heard it.

A somewhat light but guttural groan, and if he had to guess, it probably came from the beast itself.

Daisuke paused, unsure if he should continue at first, but shook it off. This had to get done. He resumed cleaning the wound as best he could, then took off the wrappings on the bandages. He carefully placed them on the injuries, one bandage on each "jaw" gash on the foot. There. Now it was...partially fixed.

Davis kind of wanted to go home and fix this, but there were two different problems. If he left the creature here, it might get attacked by some wild beast, or captured by a government force. If he took it home, well...there were his parents and his sister to consider. Hm, government...family...eh, he'd gotten away with plenty of things before, this should be fine! Only thing was, this best would have to walk itself.

That meant...he had to wake it up. Sighing, Davis got back up on his feet and began to walk alongside the beast, heading towards the upper area. He held the umbrella with his hands now, as he figured waking this thing wouldn't be so hard. Once he got to the head and arms, he halted. The beast was...well...gorgeous to say the least.

Its head and arms were also the same dove gray, and it had a long snout with no visible fangs sticking out. Its eyes were closed, but it seemed to have some sort of...dark...navy-indigo hair on its head, covering up its face more because the rainwater made it drop that way. Davis didn't really want to do this, but...this was for the safety of it. He walked up to the head and knelt down, unsure if this thing had ears. He then cleared his throat.

"Um. Hellooooo?" he asked, moderately loudly.

He didn't want to scream or shout and scare the thing to death. Worse case scenario, the beast would beat him up. However, the eyes of the beast did not open. Davis waited a minute or two, and still nothing happened. He figured he might've been too quiet, and tried being a little louder.

"He-LLOOOOOO?" he asked again, increasing volume at the end.

His heart skipped a beat when he saw the eyelid of the beast twitch. Slowly the eye opened, revealing an eye the same color as the hair. Davis watched as it rolled down to look at him. He was nervous now, but he couldn't give up this chance. He had the beast's attention, and he was going to use it.

"Listen, I dunno if you can understand human speech, but the cut on your foot is pretty bad. I got it out of the beartrap and bandaged it a little, but I need you to come with me to my house so I can make it better. Okay?"

The beast let out a huff of air on him as a response. It then slowly closed its eyes again, and planted its hands on the ground. It pushed off the ground and sat up, sulking in the rain a little. When Davis ushered the beast to keep going despite its large size, the beast slowly regained its footing...but winced as the injured foot hit the wet ground. Davis helped the beast out a little more, as best he could.

"C'mon, let's get you someplace safe..."

And with that, Davis took the hand of the beast with him and walked, all the way out of the forest.
