Chapter 17 - The Mission

Bucky and Sam had a rough landing. Sam wasn't used to landing while flying in tandem. When they hit the ground Bucky's weight pulled them forward and they rolled on the ground several times until they finally stopped hitting a tree. Sam was lying underneath Bucky, barely able to breathe.

"This..is..why..I HATE flying." Bucky grumbled, out of breath.

"Get..off..me..Bucky.." Sam managed to say in between catching his breath.

Bucky took off the harness and straps that tied him to Sam and got off Sam.

"You need to learn to land better." Bucky said.

"If I didn't have you weighing me I would've landed perfectly." Sam defended himself.

"Well whose idea was it to fly in tandem?!" Bucky protested.

"I didn't think you were so heavy..have you gained weight or something." Sam didn't want to lose the argument.

"Well I had a big lunch..and ice cream." Bucky said cynically. Sam just rolled his eyes.

"Come on." Sam finally ended the argument and beckoned Bucky to come with him.

They had landed on a forest surrounding the factory where the Flag Smashers were. Sam turned on his comms and contacted the other teams. They had all safely landed and were walking towards their designated entrances. The SHIELD team had also landed and had positioned themselves around the factory. Ready to be called.

As they got nearer the factory's gates they could see there were some guards surrounding the place.

"I thought you said there were no guards?" Bucky said.

"Yeah well..I was wrong..Red Wing couldn't detect them or they were put here after Red Wing was here." Sam said. He then scanned the gates with his goggles and identified two guards on the main gate. They were armed but not heavily.

"I see two guards, Buck. We can each tackle one." Sam said.

"Okay. Let's go." Bucky said.

Bucky and Sam easily disarmed the two guards and left them unconscious. Sam notified SHIELD agents and they took them away. Sam and Bucky then continued to the main entrance where they were welcomed by four large men.

"Here we go." Bucky said before he went to one of the men and started throwing punches at him. To Bucky's surprise the man was good at dodging him and he got punched on the stomach. As the fight intensified, Bucky realized the men they were facing weren't regular human beings, but they were like him. It seemed they were super soldiers.

Bucky finally got one of them on a choke hold, and the man went weak and fell to the ground, unconscious but still alive. Bucky then looked around and saw Sam battling two men. One other man was down. He quickly went to help Sam and hit one of the man's head with his metal arm and the man fell down, unconscious. At the same time Sam managed to win his own fight, leaving all four men unconscious.

Sam then contacted SHIELD agents to take the men away. He also contacted Hawkeye and Rhodey. Wanting to know their status.

"Clint, what's your status?" Sam said to his comms.

"Still..trying..to..win this..Sam." Clint responded breathlessly. Apparently he was in the middle of a fight.

"Okay, we're coming." Sam said while beckoning Bucky to come with him. They walked towards where Clint and Kate was. While walking Sam contacted Rhodey.

"Rhodey, what's your status?"

"Just got two men down, Sam. And..there are two more coming..Riri watch out!" Rhodey yelled.
