I couldn't move, I couldn't think, I couldn't do anything. I stopped struggling against the men holding me back and just stared at Emmie who was laying on the pavement. I finally choked out a small whisper. "No." Then my jaw tightened and every emotion I felt was pure anger all over again. "NOOO!"

Then a familiar sound filled my ears. The familiar sound that I have learned to hate. The sound of walkers.

"Well sadly it is almost time to go," Adam said. "We will be taking your cars and supplies because.....well, you won't be needing them." We were still kept at gunpoint while the rest of the men started to start the cars. I didn't watch, I couldn't take my eyes off of Emmie laying on the road.

Adam walked by me so I took the opportunity to throw all my weight at him, causing Adam to fall to the ground. "I AM GOING TO FUCKING MURDER YOU! YOU KILLED MY DAUGHTER RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!"

The moans of the walkers became louder and louder as each second ticked by. Then they came into sight. There were so many that my mouth dropped open. I had never seen a herd that size before. As soon as they saw us their speed started to increase.

"Lets go!" Adam yelled to his men and they drove off with all our things within seconds.

That is when I realized Maggie was laying in the grass beside the road. I ran to her a fast as my feet could carry me and quickly dropped down to my knees.

"Maggie," I cried and more tears rolled down my cheeks. "I'm so sorry. I should've done something more than yell and cry." She looked up at me with her red eyes and wiped her tear away with her sleeve. Then she started to laugh softly. At this point I was confused. "Maggie, why are you laughing? You're bit."

Then she rolled up the sleeve of her leather jacket to reveal no bite mark. "The leather jacket stopped it from biting me." She smiled and I hugged her a tight as I could.

"Glenn! Maggie! We have to go!" Rick yelled. The herd was about to get to us. We scrambled to our feet and Maggie suddenly grabbed my arm.

"Glenn! Dylan, Harper, Mia, Elena, Judith, and Landon were all in one of the cars they took!" I cried out.

"Shit," I yelled and grabbed onto my hair in frustration.

"Glenn, Maggie, now!" Rick yelled out again and took off running with the rest of the group.

Maggie looked at me. "Well what do we do?!" She asked frantically.

"We just have to trust that they got out and if they did they are going to need us, so we have to run!" I told her, earning a nod before she started running.

I turned back and glanced at Emmie's body as a walker fell to its knees next to her. I ran as fast as I could and kicked the walker off of Emmie right as it was about to take a bite from her little arm. As fast as I could, I picked up her body and sprinted off in the direction Rick was going.

After a couple of minutes my lungs started to ache and my feet were already sore from the lack of food and water. Emmie started to slip from my grasp with each step I took which only made it harder and I fell behind. The moans of the walkers could still be heard but I didn't dare turn to look how close they were. Although I knew they weren't very close I still didn't want to know.

My lungs were hurting so bad after not having more than one sip of water that day so I stopped for a split second. I sucked in two deep breaths before hoisting Emmie back up in my arms. Unfortunately, stopping for a few seconds caused me to lose sight of the group.

"Shit," I whispered to myself. "I need to lose these walkers so I can find them."

Then it hit me, if Emmie is really dead, she'll turn. I frantically looked around for an escape from the walkers that weren't quite in sight at the moment. All that was around me was trees and a road, so I ran into the woods as fast as my sore feet could carry me.

My face was being cut by the branches sticking out from trees, causing small beads of blood to run down my cheeks. Then, being my clumsy self, I tripped over a root sticking out of the ground and went tumbling down a hill. I grunted in pain as I came to a stop and slowly sat up.

"Emmie?!" I called out softly, careful not to draw to walkers back in my direction. I knew she wouldn't respond but I called for her anyways. I stood up and looked around for her body until I saw it lying next to a thorn bush. Carefully, I moved her body away from the bush to reveal even more blood than before. I pulled her to my chest and cradled her small head.

I wanted to speak but I started to sob. My lip trembled and I couldn't get my hands to stop shaking. "I'm so, so, so sorry baby girl. This is all my fault," I choked out between cries. "I love you so much." I started to feel anger again. "Say something Em." She can't be dead. "SAY SOMETHING! YOU CAN'T BE DEAD, JUST SAY SOMETHING, ANYTHING!" I had to make sure she doesn't turn. My eyes darted around to find something and my shaky hands grabbed a sharp stick. I laid Emmie on the ground and kissed her head before lifting the stick above her. My hands were shaking so much that I couldn't keep the stick still. "I CAN'T DO IT!" I yelled out, not caring if the walkers heard. "Just kill me now."

I threw the stick as far as I could and fell to the ground while sobbing my eyes out. "Just kill me," I whispered.

Then there was a noise as if someone was walking through all the dead leaves, but I didn't look up. There was a sniffle and then the person said, "Glenn?" Maggie. It sounded like she had been crying. I stood up and she ran to me, quickly engulfing me in a tight hug. "We heard you scream and you weren't behind us so the others said the walkers got you. They wanted to leave but I wouldn't let them. Dylan and the other made it out, they are with us," She said still crying. "I am so glad you are okay." She brought my face down and kissed me, but I didn't kiss back. "Where's Emmie?"

She didn't know that Emmie was dead. She didn't see Adam snap her neck 'cause the walker was trying to bite her.

"S-she's..." I started. "She's....gone." I cried. Maggie put a hand to her mouth and her eyes started to water when she saw Emmie on the ground. I picked her body back up without a word and Maggie lead me back to the group.

As soon as we emerged from the trees everyone looked at us. Carol, Eugene, Noah, and Rosita rushed over because they were the 'doctors' of the group. I continued to sob as I placed her on the ground. Carol knelt down and put two fingers to Emmie's bruised neck. Her eyes went wide.

"I've got a heartbeat."
