Chapter 49

*Maggie's POV*

Every moment it got darker outside, made me even more scared. Glenn had left in the morning and it was dark and he still wasn't back.

"Momma, what are you doing?" Harper asked while sitting on the couch, Mia standing up in her playpin next to her.

I stopped pacing and fell back on the couch next to her. "I'm just worried about Emmie and you daddy," I replied and Harper glanced at the boarded up window.

"Daddy is strong so he'll be okay, just like always, and he will bring back sissy too," Harper said and played with her fingers. I leaned over and kissed her head before standing up to go to the front door.

I pulled back the curtains and looked through the glass to see a figure walking towards me. As soon as I realized it was Glenn, I swung the door open. Emmie was in his arms which made me smile to myself. When they saw me, Glenn set Emmie down and she ran to me.

"Thank God!" I said with tears in my eyes as she jumped into my arms.

"I'm so sorry momma, please don't be mad that I left," she cried.

I kissed her head. "I'm not mad sweetie, I'm just glad that you're safe." I then stood up and ran to Glenn. "You scared the shit out of me!"

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't leave my little girl out there all alone at night," he said and I kissed him over and over again. I grabbed onto his hand and held it to my chest as we walked in.

"Daddy!" Harper squealed and Glenn ruffled her hair. Apparently Mia thought that was funny because she let out one of her cute giggles. Glenn went over and picked her up out of her playpin, kissing her forehead.

I wrapped my arms tighter around Emmie and just smiled.

"What?" I fake whined as Glenn pulled me upstairs and into my old bedroom. "What are you doing?"

He just shrugged with a small smirk. "I don't know. Can't I just have some quality time with my beautiful wife?"

Glenn took my hand and wrapped his arms around me and I put my head on his chest. He lightly swayed back and forth with me in his arms, both of us enjoying the loving moment. I felt his fingers draw small hearts in my back and I pressed a warm kiss on his neck.

Then, he lifted my arm up and twirled me around, making me laugh. His arm was securely around my waist as he dipped me down and leaned down to kiss me. Everytime I feel his lips on mine, it just reminds me how lucky I am to have someone like him love me. He gave me the perfect family in this messed up world and I love him more than anything for that.

"Whatcha thinking about?" He asked me, swaying us back and forth again.

"Just you," I replied and smiled against his chest.

"What about me?"

"How much I love you. You gave me the perfect family." After I said that, I felt his lips on my forehead. "Did you know that you make the most adorable babies?"

He chuckled as I let out a yawn. "You tired?" He asked, earning a nod from me. He sat down on the edge of the bed and a moment later I stood between his legs, his hands on my waist. "I love you."

I leaned down and pressed my forehand onto his. "I love you too," I said and went around the other side of the bed. I took off my jeans and put on some sweatpants to sleep in, Glenn doing the same.

I crawled under the sheets with him and lay my head on his chest, kissing his stomach through the fabric of his white T-shirt.

We had been laying there together for about fifteen minutes before the door was swung open and I saw Harper and Emmie run in. They were giggling like crazy as they jumped on top of us, making me laugh.

"What are you crazy girls doing?" I laughed and Glenn and I sat up.

"Saying hi," Harper giggled, sitting on Glenn's lap. "Do you love each other again?"

"We've always loved each other baby," Glenn replied. "Now come on, time to her your pajamas on."

Emmie was already in her pajamas so she snuggled into my side. Glenn undressed Harper and put on her pajamas before setting her back on the bed. "You wanna sleep with us tonight?"

Harper's eyes lit up. "I wanna sleep next to daddy!" She squealed and Glenn laughed.

"I'm always the favorite," he bragged.

"I wouldn't be to sure about that," Emmie joked from next to me, making us all laugh.

"I'll sleep next to both of you," Harper said and got in the middle.

"Carol already put Mia to sleep in the other room with Dylan, Carl, and Elena so she won't be in here," Emmie informed us and I kissed her head.

"Alright, goodnight. I love all three of you," Glenn said.

"We love you too," we said back and I pulled the sheets up to cover Harper and Emmie before slowly falling asleep after the perfect night.
